SOURCE: When I try to restore my Ipod Nano Itunes wont let

If itunes is prompting you to restore the ipod but it will not there might be something blocking it on your Computer

The best test is to try to restore from another cpu with itunes

- if it restores then you can take it back to your cpu and re-sync the muisc

- if you get the same error or issue with another cpu

Then is is probably an issue with the hard ware of your ipod

You might want to take it to the apple store or best buy to test

Good luck

I forgot my combo to my i pod nano dnt got itunes

Go here to download Itunes. That is what you are going to need. Then you can fix your ipod(http://apple.com/itunes/download).

1. Start by syncing your iPod with your computer. When you do this, the iPod management screen will appear. Midway down that screen there's a button that reads "Restore." Click the restore button. This begins the process of restoring the iPod to its factory settings. After you click the restore button, iTunes will ask you to confirm that you really want to do this. If your iPod content is backed up, go ahead.
2. The iPod restore process includes iTunes downloading and installing iPod software and bug fixes. You will see a window that looks like this. Follow the onscreen instructions.
**On a Mac, you will be asked to enter your computer’s password. On Windows, the installation will just proceed.
3. As iTunes restores the iPod, you will see a progress bar.
4. After the restoration process has completed, iTunes will pop up a window letting you know that it’s done.
5. Now you’ve got an empty, freshly formatted iPod. Now you can sync the iPod with your computer and download your iTunes library again.

Ipod 4th gen showing music on pc but not on ipod

From the apple website:

"If you are experiencing these errors, begin by updating to the latest version of iTunes. When you have the current version of iTunes, try the following:
  • Disconnect and reconnect your iPod and then attempt to restore.
  • Restart your computer and then attempt to restore your iPod.
  • Disable or Enable Disk Use on your iPod and then attempt to restore.
  • Try connecting your iPod to a different USB port and then attempt to restore.
  • Remove any third-party USB devices you have connected to your computer (it is not necessary to remove your keyboard or mouse).
  • If you use Windows, re-register .dll files as described in article iTunes displays -50 error message when syncing iPod on Windows XP
  • For Windows users, update or reinstall your Windows USB drivers."

If this doesn't fix it, it might be a logic board issue or hard drive issue.

My nano won't restore.

When you hook your iPod up, go to my computer and see if it shows as a drive. If so, Right Click on the drive and click "Format" Once this is done, Put the ipod in disk mode and connect it to itunes.
Restore as before and see if you get results.

I suspect you may have been using a dock when it crashed, if so you may never get it back. Docks are very harsh on the ipod motherboards. especially the Nano gen 3 and the Ipod Video 5th gen.

If this helps, please leave a vote on fixya

My ipod suddenly wont mount!

The first thing you can try is unplug the Ipod from the computer. Hold down the center button while pressing down on the menu button. You should see an Apple logo appear on the screen. Your Ipod has been reset. Plug it back into ITunes.

If that doesn't work after plugging it in. You may have to restore the software in your IPod from Itunes. Make sure your songs in your IPod are on your hard drive because this will restore all of the settings back to default and empty out the memory of the IPod as well.

This system restore can be done through ITunes or by selecting the system software option from the IPod menu in the computer if you have it installed.

Option 1 should work.
