If your panasonic camera uses a panasonic battery and you try to use a different brand equivalent battery, some panasonics will not work. Could that be your problem?
If you are looking for drivers in that CD, click Panasonic Support and check drivers list of DMC-FX01 at bottom of page. and if you need Software CD, please contact nearest Panasonic service center.
Have you had problems when you turn it on and off from scratch before? It sounds like you have a problem with the lense extension. Now if you are lucky, it's just a bit of dirt in there and the best cure (I know, it sounds horrible) is to put the end of a shop-vac over the lense when it's closed and it will probably **** the obstruction out. If you are less lucky, the problem is with the gearing inside and in the middle of the luck-vs-effort range it could just have been bashed, in which case, you can try and push it back into alignment but be careful with it (he says, after he hit his last one with a large lump of wood to put it back).
If the dark spot is not focused, it could be on the sensor. Otherwise, check the lens for any dust particles. If you can't find any dust, take the camera to an authorized service center.
Honestly, drop it again.. this worked for me in december when i had the same problem.. just tap it on a table a couple of times, reverse the effect. This worked for me!
See the post for the same camera: "Buttons stopped working": there is a small 2 position switch connected to the zoom button. In my camera the zoom switch was stuck in one of the extreme positions. You have to put it back in the middle an re-assemble.
same problem with ours, only 7 months old. We returned to the seller under warranty, and they fixed the problem FOC. They stated "lens adjustment" on the repair invoice. I think these machines are not as sturdy as we are led to believe, and the slightest knock or bump sends them a bit squew wiffy!
out of focus, instructs me to turn off and then back on again..help please
