I know about installing and uninstalling drivers, thats not my issue. I have a circuitry shortage and may need to replace the motherboard. I'm looking for a how to document on taking apart my hp 7410 and replacing the motherboard. I don't want to screw with components and possible mess up whats not broken. i suspect it was a pwr surge.

I already have a source for the board for a reasonable price which is almost cheaper than paying for shipping on a working printer lol! But, thank you for the heads up. I realize the instructions are propriatory, just thought maybe there was someone out there that may have already gotten their hands dirty with this kind of project.

First how did you get a new motherboard for it. Second why not just get a new printer....was it under warranty?

Well you wont find this info anywhere...HP doesnt give it out to anyone but authorized repair centers...
I dont think you know what that board costs....it may be cheaper to get a new printer...you probably cant get the board with out having a repair center do it anyway

Officejet 7410 installation fails when it gets to the driver installation on windows 8

Sounds as if the software driver is not correct. I'm sure you downloades the software from HP and when asked for which operating system you checked the Windows 8 option. Being a New OS the driver might be an issue. Look on the HP Officejet 7410 website and look for a troubleshooting/support section.

I recently purchased a HP Pavilion p6710f desktop pc, but my HP officejet 7410 all in one software will not install.

Your original rivers are compatible with Windows 98; Windows 98 SE; Windows 2000; Windows Me; Windows XP Home and Windows XP Professional. I suggest downloading the latest drivers. http://top-drivers.com/hp/7410

Circuit board

HP has extended the warranty for some of these printers like the 7410. I'm not sure about the 7310. But it's worth giving them a call.

Have your serial number ready when you call HP. (800) 474-6836
Tell them you have a broken carriage shute and print cartridge rejection.

Hope that helps.

HP Officejet 7410

When you find out Jeff, I sure need to know too! Here's my story:

Here's what I found when this happend on my two 7410's. Take a look at where the ink cartridge slides into it's holder. Shine a flashlight on the circuit board at the rear. You will no doubt find it has a puncture in it that breaks the little tracer wires on the board. The culpret is the tension spring arm. It likely has come off it's base support and when that happens, and you install a new cartridge, the cartridge will push the tip of the tension wire g right into the circuit board. After you fix the circuit board, apply some silicone glue to the spring base mount to hold it in place.
