Infrared sensor not working

I posted to Wronny68's question about his remote control. I don't believe the TV is responding to the remote control. I did try a new one, making sure it worked on other devices in my house fine. Took the TV apart to make sure the iR receiver was not obstructed by dust, etc. Wondering if a solder joint could be the problem? The TV is NEVER moved or bumped or jarred, so I'm not sure how the solder joint would come loose? Any suggestions? Would the "eye" go bad, stop working, and if so, are there replacements?

Toshiba 32a14 does not respond to remote control

Hello
There is a infrared light sensor inside the TV which detects the infrared rays emitted from the remote control, when we press each button on the remote control. If this sensor has got damaged, the set won't respond to any remote control handset. The sensor can be located just behind the infrared sensor window at the front panel of the TV. To access it, you have to open the TV. It is a three terminal component, will be soldered diretily to front panel circuit board, of with the main baord itslef. Will look somewhat brownish black in colour. There are so many types can be seen . Just look what type if fitted with your TV.
