Where Does the compressor wire connect on a Titan 370 run capacitor. The fan came with 4 wires including the ground wire. Ik the two brown wires go on opposite sides of cap. And white and black to the contact. Just don't know where this other yellow wire connects to but it came off the previous cap.

Old fan / blk-L1 / yell-L2-cap / ben-cap.
New fan, blk-L1 / wht L2 / brn-cap /brn-cap.
The new motor two of the wires are the same wire, omit one, splice them together, or use them.
The new motor, one of the browns is the white wire, sometimes the brown identified with a tracer stripe, white stripe.
Black wire is still black in new L1. Yellow wire becomes White and Brown/white. Solid brown remains capacitor.

It sounds like you have replaced the fan motor. If so and it has 2 brown wires, you need to use a separate cap for it. (Commonly a 5 mfd/370~440 volt) There's a way to make it work with the original 3 terminal cap, but you really need to understand the process. Simply buying the correct fan cap, and using the 3 terminal cap for the compressor would be the easiest way to do this. On many condensing units, the yellow wire is the start wire, and connects to the "Herm" terminal of the cap.

The two terminal cap is only for the new fan motor. Connect the compressor wire back where you found it, on the 3 terminal cap. It's the terminal marked, "herm". The "common" terminal on the 3 terminal cap must still be connected to one side of the 220 power at the contactor. One side of the 220 goes to the common on the compressor. The other side of the 220 goes to the run winding on the compressor AND the common terminal on the 3 terminal capacitor.

a capacitor is typically inline with your power source and stores a large amount of power to supply bursts of power when heavy draws occur. it sits between the source and the motor so you should have the (source - capcitor - motor) hot wires all conecting at the same place. The other wire on the capacitor should be the ground (if they have +/- markings use the negative as the ground).

Well, it sounds as if you have a Coleman rooftop unit. If you have a start capacitor with a PTCR (Postive Temperature Coefficient Resistor) then it is different than if you have a Potential Motor Starting Relay. Why are you replacing the run and the fan capacitor?

Here is a link to the documentation that you need. If you do not have a Coleman and it is in fact a Duo-Therm, let me know the model number and I will be able to pull up the wiring schematic.

The cap has 3 sections: Herm for compressor, F for fan, and C for common.
The common section of the cap gets a hot wire off the power cord, a wire from compressor marked C on compressor and a white common wire from the fan gets connected to C on that cap. These wires are almost always white in color on American OEM. The fan has a small brown wire that connects to F on tha cap. The compressor has a wire marked S on it make a note of that color wire and connect it to the section on the cap called HERM. Herm stands for hermedtically sealed compressor. So both your commons and a hot wire go to C. You need one small brown wire which goes to F from the fan. One wire marked S on the compressor goes to Herm for compressor starting. S stands for start winding.
Lets look at typical American fan motor wires: The fan has a black wire for high speed a blue wire for medium and a red wire for low. It has white wire for common, and a brown wire for capacitor. Connect your common fan wire to common and the brown wire to F.
With that cap properly connected basically all you would need to do to make it run is connect a fan speed, the compressor wire marked R for RUN, and and the other power wire.

Take a look at the capacitor. A terminal with just 2 connections is for the fan and has a small brown wire from the fan there and is usually marked with an F. The compressor portion of the cap has 3 terminals on it, usually marked as HERM for (hermetically seald compressor), a large brown wire goes there most of the time from the compressor. The other 3 wires all are white and go to the portion of the cap with 4 connections usually marked as C for common.

Before attempting any of these recommendations, First disconnect all the power sources and check your wiring diagrams on the motor and condensing unit.
On the old capacitor if you look on the top near each of the three terminals. Are they marked, fan - C - herm? If they are that is a dual capacitor and that needs to stay because that is also your compressor capacitor.
The Red wire from the conductor is Run and it's connected to C on the old capacitor.
Follow the Yellow wire and see if it goes to the S or start terminal on the compressor, if it does then that is the Start wire for your compressor and it connects to herm on the capacitor.
For the fan motor a lot of times the wiring connections are printed on the motor label.
Check the label, Purple should be run and connect to C on the old capacitor.
Black should be Common and it connects to the opposite side of the contactor as the Red wire. If the Red wire connects to T1 then the Black wire connects to T2.
The Brown wire shoud be the start wire on the fan motor and it connects to the Fan terminal on the old capacitor.
Now if you want to use the new fan capacitor. Take the Purple wire from the motor and look for any marks (red paint or a dash) on or beside the terminals on the new capacitor. If there is an identifying mark then connect the Purple wire to that terminal, if no marks you can connect it to either terminal. Then you need a jumper wire from C on the old capacitor to the purple side of the new capacitor. Then take the brown wire and connect it to opposite terminal of the new capacitor.

The two brown wires go to the fans capacitor. The capacitor should always be changed with the fan motor.

It sounds like your unit has a dual capacitor. One side for the fan and the other for the compressor. All you will be doing (After rewiring the compressor wires as they were originally.) is abandoning the fan side of the capacitor, and wiring your new capacitor to the brown and brown with stripe wires. It does not matter which terminals the brown wires go on.

OK, locate the terminals on the capacitor marked "HERM"(Compressor lead), "FAN", and "COM".(common)

HERM and COM remian as they are.

The wire going to "FAN" (usually brown) will be placed on either terminal of the new capacitor. (This is the ((usually brown)) wire comming off of the fan motor.) An additional wire needs to be run from the other terminal of the new capacitor to the "COM" on the old capacior.

What you are doing is bypassing the fan side of the old capacitor but still using the compressor side of the old Cap.

The fan should have a wiring diagram on it to help identify the wires if there is no brown wire. The other two wires will be identified on the wiring diagram as well, but one typically goes to the contactor and the other to the board.

Condensor fan runs after compressor shuts off

If new motor is 4 wire verses 3 wire use seperate capacitor between brown wires and don't use terminal on 3 pole cap. If this motor has a white strip on one brown wire you can wire it the old way using only 1 brown wire and tape off the other. Can't remeber this morning which brow wire to use . I need to leave.
