How can I fine the operative sistem window xp home edition 2005 for this computer, or can I put a diference OP.
Hello,
You should contact Toshiba service and order a recovery CD for that model. You can also install any Windows XP version, but it will not provide support for the tablet functionalities, which means that you will have a notebook that is not a tablet.
Note: Actually the original operating system is Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005: It is Win XP Pro + Tablet PC software.
I have heard that Vista provides support for Tablet functionalities, but you may still have to buy it from Toshiba because of the drivers for the specific hardware.
I installed Linux Ubuntu on a tablet. The latest version of Ubuntu provides some support for the wacom stylus pen, but not much else.
Hope it gives you some leads to follow through.
Actually, the restore CD is probably the WORST idea possible in this situation. Why? It's simple, when this system was made, Vista wasn't around to "restore" to so a restore CD would be a waste of anywhere from $20-60. Better to get a technical read-out of the chipsets of EACH and EVERY device on the system (video, modem, lan, wireles, audio, board chipset) and look them up (individually) according to their own model #s. That worked for me.
Nothing personal to the Guru, but "get the restore CD" is the laziest answer a tech can give, every tech really knows that.
