Projector is brand new out of the box. Powers up displays Sim2 logo then lamp goes out power light starts to flash and turns off about 3 minutes later. Same thing every time it's turned on. Anyone had the same problem with a simple solution?

Thanks for the info.Tried it again looking for the blinks. When the lamp first goes out i get 2 sequences of 1 long blink and 1 short blink being enviroment overtemperature however the room is at 22C.
After this it is all short blinks until the power button turns red. Any thoughts?

The number of blinks determine the problem:

Environment Over Temperature- 1 long blink / 1 short blink
DMD Over Temperature- 1 long blink / 2 short blinks
Lamp Over Temperature- 1 long blink / 3 short blinks
Fan1 Locked- 1 long blink / 4 short blinks
Fan2 Locked- 2 long blinks / 2 short blinks
Fan3 Locked- 2 long blinks / 3 short blinks
Fan4 Locked- 2 long blinks / 4 short blinks
DMD Initial Fail- 3 long blinks / 1 short blink
Lamp Initial Fail- 3 long blinks / 2 short blinks
Ballast UART Error- 3 long blinks / 3 short blinks
Temperature Sensor Fail- 3 long blinks / 4 short blinks
Inter Lock Open- 4 long blinks / 1 short blink

any of these will result in lamp off and shutdown.

Benq w1000 project not turning on

Look at the manual page 34, for the indicator messages. I suspect it's the same problem I have (which I haven't had formally diagnosed yet!), which I believe is a defective fan. My projector had been making a really loud noise on startup, which varied in length and volume. Recently the projector has taken to turning itself off after being on for about a minute, and the power light flashes green, with the temp and lamp lights flashing red.

Replacing the lamp module requires special considerations:
  1. Turn off the projector.
  2. Wait 30 minutes for the projector to cool down and then unplug it.
  3. On the bottom of the projector, loosen the two screws on the lamp cover and then remove the cover.
  4. Loosen the two screws on the lamp module and pull out the module.
  5. Insert the new lamp module and tighten the two screws.
  6. Install the cover and tighten the two screws.
  7. Turn on the projector. If the lamp does not turn on after the warm-up period, try reinstalling the lamp again.
  8. Press enter on the projector or on the remote control to open the on-screen menu.
  9. Press the up (c00589410.gif ) or down (c00589411.gif ) arrow to select Setup and then press the right (c00589412.gif ) arrow.
  10. Press the up (c00589410.gif ) or down (c00589411.gif ) arrow to select Reset lamp hours and then press enter .

The lamp turns on for a second and you can see the vivitek logo on the screen then it goes dark

some projector are normal like what what you mention...you need to connect a video source like computer or sound system that have a video output going to your projector...because if you power on the projector with out a video source you see only what you mention the logo of the projector..

Projector goes out after two minutes IN72

Seems like some of the fans are not working well and it causes too much heat so machine shut itself. Check the fans if you can , sometimes they may stuck...
Otherwise go to a service...

New lamp turns on flashes 7 times

Just a thought...you *might* have a bad ballast in addition to that defective power supply. That flashing could be the ballast trying to ignite the lamp. A lamp is just like an enclosed welder's arc. The ballast generates a high-voltage spark to initially start the lamp, then low voltage with high current keeps it burning. If you look into the lens and see "lightning" flashes but no lamp ignition, that's what's happening. The ballast could've been damaged by the defective supply. Also, try a known-good lamp...just to rule out a defective new one--in the shop, we kept all old working lamps as testers.

Projector fails to turn on

check your lamp. if it has bulges, black spots or fogging, replace it. otherwise, its your power supply/ballast.
