I tried to plug the asus 1000he to my tv (Sony Bravia-with hgmi, usb, and vga external inputs. TV would not detect the computer, (although it did when the computer was booting up, then goes blank and says no external device detected. Do I have to activate the vga output on the computer? If so, how?

Hi adiazjr. On the Asus 1000he, in order to switch to an external monitor you need to press the function key (Fn) at the bottom left of the keyboard and the F8 key at the top. When you press both of these keys at the same time it will send the video signal to whatever external monitor or TV you have connected. Hope this helps!

Most laptops have a combination of buttons you have to press on the keyboard to get it to output on the monitor output. Try pressing the FUNCTION KEY or FUNC/FN key usually found in the bottom left hand side of the keyboard. Keep that button held down while press one of the number keys.

My Eee pc netbook doesn't turn on at all

Solution 1 -
Unplug your Charger or Cord and while its turned off
Press the Power button for 45 seconds
and then plug it back in

Solution 2 -
Remove the battery and turn on the unit

Solution 3 -
It could be a memory problem, try using a different RAM card if there is any.
Or try switching display to VGA output on a external monitor

I want to connect my Compaq Presario 2500 laptop to my Sony Bravia 32s2000 tv. My laptop has an S video output for tv. How do i connect it to the PC port on the TV. It has a hd15 connector?

Does your laptop have a VGA port? if so use a VGA cable, the frequency is correct and the picture will be cleaner. The S2000 has PC input. once you have it connected, go to your control panel and select display and look for multiple monitor. It just depends on your laptops operating sys. It can be found in help and support as well. If you need further help, post a comment and I will get you the answer.

I am trying to hook my Eee 1000HE netbook up to my hdtv. I have 15 pin RGB cable but it doesn't work. Followed TV (Visio) directions, but it doesn't work.

More information would be helpful - what operating system are you running - XP or Linux? are you getting no signal at all? or just a picture and no sound? or vice versa?. What settings did you try?

In the meantime, I have just been doing the same thing with a different TV and I did get it to work, although my display is too fuzzy - I suspect the TV I'm using doesn't have a high enough resolution - sadness. So here's the 411:

(A) Hardware - check your hookups are correct first - the tv should be off when you do this - netbook can be on I think, although you might want to have it shut in standby - anyway (1) you need to plug the VGA cable into the port on the 1000HE and the other end gets plugged into the VGA IN port on the TV; (2) if you are using external speakers directly on the netbook, you do not need to connect an audio cable - otherwise you need an audio cable (standard PC to TV, about $12-$15 at Best Buy or Radio Shack) - plug one end into the headphone jack on the 1000HE and the other end into the AUDIO IN jack on the TV located right next to the VGA IN port. Now you can put the TV on.

(B) TV settings - Now you need to switch the TV input to VGA mode, which is the correct setting for for a VGA hookup (just like you pick cable for cable, TV for TV, etc.) You may have a separate button on your remote control for this called "input" or "mode" or similar, or it may be accessed from the menu button or something else entirely - check your TV''s manual.

(C) PC settings - Once you have the TV set to receive VGA, you then need to configure the netbook. I have no idea how to do this for Linux, but in XP open "Control Panel", open "Display", click on the "Settings" tab, click on the "Advanced" button, click on the "Montior" tab and verify that the box next to "hide modes that this monitor cannot display" is NOT checked - if it is then uncheck it. You have to do this or you will not be able to set the TV to a resolution beyond what the netbook can display (fyi, the netbook lcd is limited to 1026x768 and should NOT be set higher). Now click on the tab "Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Mobile". I recommend you put a checkmark in the box for "Show Tray Icon" so that you can quickly access this menu in the future when switching display settings between your netbook and TV. Now click on the "Graphics Properties" button. This will open the menu that allows you to configure an external display - you will notice that "Notebook" is selected at this point. To output to your TV only, select "Monitor" and then "Display Settings" to choose the resolution you want to output to - your TV's manual should have information on highest resolution settings. With some TVs you can just start at the highest resolution and work down until you get one that works - if you will just get an "unsupported" message and XP will automatically revert back to the prior setting after 15 to 30 seconds - just be careful as I have heard that some TVs can be damaged if you try and set them on too high a resolution.

If you are still having trouble with video, check that Windows XP is using the correct driver for your TV - first check if your TV has a Windows XP driver at the TV manufacturer's website. If not, just use the XP plug n' play driver.

Oh, you might want to enable Cleartype in Windows XP - Microsoft has an online utility here and a link to a utility you can download:
http://www.microsoft.com/typography/cleartype/tuner/Step1.aspx

An even better cleartype utility is here (has good rep. and is posted on CNET and Softpedia as being clean):
http://www.ioisland.com/cleartweak/

Well, that's all the info I have - hope it works for you.

Bravia will not detect laptop. laptopdoes detect

If your Sony came with a CD or DVD, you may need to install special drivers so your PC can find the set.
If it didn't, you may have to select the external VGA output on your laptop to activate it; not all laptops have that output turned on by default.

How should I connect my accer pc to sony bravia lcd hdtv

That depends on what kind of output you have on your computer. If you have the VGA output which is for normal monitors as well as LCD then you can connect it that way. if you have a DVI output from your computer which is a round port much like a mouse port then you can connect it to the DVI input on the LCD.
