Hi. Having the same problem. Thought maybe it was a faulty USB drive, so i actually exchanged it for another, only to find the same problems. I plug it in, it says "connecting" and only seconds later, it says "usb disconnected" and theres nothing you can do to get the computer to read it. I'm about to try out some solutions posted here... I'll see how i go!

I have the same problem. My mp3 player has worked normally for over half a year, but a week ago it decided not to connect anymore.

I've tried the first solution, but it didn't work.
It was recognised in the hardware tab in the control panel, but it doesn't show up anywhere else, not on My computer, not on the samsung media studio, not in windows media player.

Are there any other solutions exept disassembling stuff?

  • Anonymous Jul 14, 2008

same problem it seems - ive installed the software that came with the YP-U3 and the portable device icon does not show in the studio editor program - ive tried updating the driver, rolling ball the driver, downloading it again over the net, everything i can think of short of shoving up samsung- think ill take it back and try another brand - why cant anything just work these days without it being a major headache!

  • Anonymous Aug 01, 2008

I think I got it guys. forget WMP 9,. 10 , 11... I run win xp service pack 2 and could not install the samsung yp-u3 player. I kept having it found as a new hardware {portable device} but as we all know this software has no drivers, and the windows update produces MTP device error. Resulting in you not being able to see your player in XP. Well go to windows update site and search for a file called "mtppk12.exe" I'm pretty sure once you install that file and reboot, you will no longer have MTP device errors. However, I installed this at the same time i installed windows media player SDK. So maybe both files are required. Finally after 2 days of troubleshooting i got mine to work.

  • Hackett7 Aug 05, 2008

    Thanks Guest 01 August 08.

I have uninstalled the Samsung software, downloaded Windows Media Player 11, mtppk12.exe and Windows Media Player 10 SDK.

Lap-top now recognises the MP3 player and I have finally been able to transfer my songs.

I had this problem with my YP-U3JZB, and this worked:
Plug player into USB port. Then do: Control panel > System > Hardware tab > Device manager > Portable devices (expand and locate name of device, eg "Samsung YP-U3") – right-click and select “Update driver”, follow prompts.

This worked without installing the Samsung media player – Windows Media Player 10 or 11 will then recognise the device, for syncing, etc.

(found this solution in another forum, can’t now locate – anyway, props to them!)

Go in Control Pannel ->Add Hardware -> Next
Then choose Yes, I have already connected the hardware -> Next
Select MTP device form the list (it is somewhere at the buttom) -> Next
And finish the instralation
Then go to Control Pannel -> Portable Media devices and you will see your mp3 player there.
It is now connected to your computer and you can put your music on.

I hope this is the solution to your problem

This is a common problem that is usually generated by flashing the wrong firmware
to the player. All you need to do is to get your player into ADFU state, that is to make it connect to the pc no matter what the firmware tells it to do. To do that you must
disassemble your player and short the memory chip pins or the tantalum capacitor on the board.
unable to connect to my device - 1d6acc9.jpg
First you must connect the player to the PC and wait 30 seconds. Then
you must short the capacitor's wires with a screwdriver or a bent
paperclip, but only for less than a second. Do not let it short for too much
or you will burn the chips!

Alternatively, you can short the flash chip's pins with a paper clip. Short both sides
and slide down with the paper clip but do NOT insist. Your player should turn off for a
second and then turn on again. I repeat, do not insist or you will burn your player's flash.
Just slide fast, but be care full not to break the pins.
As soon as you do this and the player restarts, after maximum 1 minute it will be detected by your computer and the PC will ask for drivers. Now you have to browse to MP3 Player utilities folder, tipically under “C:\Program Files\MP3 Player Utilities
4.15\RDiskUpdate\driver\” and install “ADFUUD.SYS”. The PC will then install it and you'll be able to run the firmware update program and update the fiwmare.

My Samsung YP-S2 Mp3 player can't be recognised by computers when I plug it in through the usb input (it used to work), therefore I'm not able to upload music on it anymore. How can I fix this bug?

Samsung Player Is No Longer Detected By Windows XP, Vista, Emodio Or
Samsung Media Studio.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When your computer doesn't recognize your Samsung MP3 player, programs
such as Samsung Media Studio (SMS), Emodio, Windows Media Player
(10 or 11) do not allow you to transfer files to your player.
In SMS and Emodio, the portable icon appears grayed out.
In Windows Media Player, you are prompted to connect a device.
Your PC may fail to recognize your player for a variety of reasons.
To begin troubleshooting, scroll down, and then click the operating
system your computer is currently running.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
General Operating System Information
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
On Windows computers, Samsung MP3 players require at least Windows XP
Service Pack 2. If you have an older operating system such as Windows
2000 or Windows 98, your computer won't recognize your player until you
upgrade your PC to at least Windows XP Service Pack 2.
If your PC is running Linux or MAC, it will not recognize some MP3
players that support only MTP mode. However, it will recognize players
that support UMS mode and list them as mass storage devices.
The following Samsung MP3 players support UMS: YP-U1, YP-U2, YP-U3,
YP-U4, YP-U5, and YP-S2.
The following Samsung MP3 players support both MTP and UMS mode: YP-Z5
and YP-P3.
Windows Vista may fail to detect you device if the player is not
connected properly, Windows Media Player is not installed or has become
corrupted, Vista is unable to install the MTP drivers, or the MTP patch
is not installed.
You can check it out further by going to this website and entering the information about your player

DOES NOT RECOGNIZE PLAYER WHEN CONNECTED

ive got the new version of the sony sonic stage downloaded onto my laptop, and when i plug my player into my laptop via usb cable, the player itself is recognized straight away as a harddrive/removable disk etc,and you have to transfrer music onto the player as from sonic stage music library, and you also have to creatate you own music library via sonic stage, and u can also transfer music from your own music library wich you use via windows media player, and also u can transfer a cd into you sony sonic stage music libraty, and this is similar to when your using the windows media player as to rip a cd or transfer music onto an mp3 player,as i use all diffrent types of mp3 players myself, and i find the archos gmini sx 202 player to be pretty awesome player,as ive got to of them as well, and i use windows media player as to transfer music files onto them, and i cannot transfer any music files onto the sony ones via windown media player as those music file wont show up on the player at all,and ive tried this myself, and it will only work via sony sonic stage.

Samsung yp-u3 mp3 cant create playlist

  1. Open My Computer.
  2. Right Click on the YP-T9J, then Left Click on Format
  3. Click OK at the warning message where it states that Formatting will erase all data on the device.
  4. Click on OK once the Format process completes, then close the My Computer window.
  5. Right Click on the icon of My Computer, then Left Click on Properties.
  6. Click on the Hardware Tab, then click on the Device Manager Button.
  7. Locate either Portable Devices or Windows Portable Devices and click the plus to the left of that to make it a minus.
  8. Right Click on the Samsung YP-T9 and Left Click on Update Driver, this will start the Hardware Update Wizard.
  9. If the first screen asks if you would like to connect to Windows Update and you are currently connected to the internet, select Yes, this time only, and then click on Next.
  10. On the next screen keep the default setting (Install the software Automatically (Recommended)) and click on Next.
  11. The wizard will search for an updated driver and once this is complete, click on Finish.
  12. If the Samsung Media Studio program does not open up at this time disconnect the reconnect the YP-T9J and this should then open the program.
NOTE: If this does not fix the issue, first try to uninstall then reinstall the Samsung Media Studio Program

Next step?

Please stay in one question.
You've started a new question with this post as you did with your request. It's easier for me to have one question, containing all posts regarding that question...
That was no answer for your question. Here we go

As you can see on the download page of samsung, there are several applications available. It's a bit confusing, as they have Multimedia Studio (1.0), Samsung Music Studio (1.0) and Samsung Media Studio(5.1.3.2).

I think you should just download Music Studio. This is a direct download link to the installation file. Since the Multimedia Studio doesn't work, you can uninstall it.

Also something to check, is that because the player is recognized and listed in the Device Manager, it probably is available in My Computer.
If not: right-click My Computer -> Manage
Select Storage -> Disk Management
Your mp3 should be listed there as an 20GB drive.
Let me know what you found.

Unable to find usb device in media studio

Does your device show up as a separate device in windows explorer? If so you may drag and drop files directly onto it.

Alternatively you can download alternative free media players like winamp and rhapsody which do the same job as media player.

If your device does not show up in windows explorer then you may have a usb problem on your Samsung media player. This is most likely to be a hardware fault which I don't know a free/cheap solution to.
