The D3DRM.DLL file is the Dynamic Link Library for Direct3D Retained Mode, an older DirectX display technology that was not included with Windows Vista. Direct3D is used to render three dimensional images in applications where performance is important; the most common examples of which are games, CAD drawing programs and graphics editing software.
The error message displayed varies by program, but some some of the more common ones are:

• "Cannot find the file d3drm.dll"
• "This application has failed to start because d3drm.dll was not found"
• "D3DRM.dll is not loaded"

This error is usually a sign that the d3drm.dll file has been deleted, corrupted or altered in such a way that makes it unusable to your program.
To fix errors like this:
1. Install the latest version of Microsoft DirectX. It will fix the d3drm.dll error.
2. Uninstall the game or software program and then reinstall it again.
3. Update the drivers for your video card.
4. If it doesn,t work copy d3drm.dll file to the system folder.

I had the same problem. the only place i found that can fix this without a scan and trying to sell you something is---- microflight.com i followed the instr. and it loaded right into fms. i have vista and it did not inclued the d3drm.dll in the directx and will not load even with updates. hope this helps

To download the FMS flight sim go to this site http://n.ethz.ch/student/mmoeller/fms/index_e.html With windowsXP and earlier it will work fine.
BUT If you use vista you will need to also add this file to your computer "d3drm.dll" go to http://www.driverskit.net/dll/get/494.html to download the file. Then put it in your C:\Windows\System32 folder on your computer. It wont work until you do this. Good luck.

But you will need add the "d3drm.dll" file your your computer if you are using Vista. Go to http://www.driverskit.net/dll/get/494.html to download the file. Then put the d3drm.dll file in your C:\Windows\System32 folder on your computer. It wont work until you do this. Good luck.
