Plug your phone into a USB cable connected to your computer. There may be a setting required on your phone to allow file transfers - it may pop a dialog box asking to make files available.

THEN from your computer open the File Explorer and you'll see your phone as a drive. Look for a folder named DCIM, then click down through folders in there until you find your pictures. You can COPY the pictures you want and then PASTE them to My Pictures on your computer.

I can't find the option to save my contacts and information to my sim card on the lg Vu. I bought a new cell and I'm trying to transfer pictures from the old cell to new and its not possible.
For your pictures you can transfer them via bluetooth just go to the pictures and click OPTIONS & SEND VIA message or bluetooth OR you can save them onto a memory card by clicking MOVE OR COPY..For the contacts go toMENU-> ADDRESS BOOK and click where it says->COPY ALL CONTACTS-> AND select HANDSET TO SMARTCHIP.

Transfer contacts with an inactive smartchip
Since you say that your computer can read your memory card, you could try puting a sim into your phone temporarily and then backing up your contacts onto your memory card...sony ericsson phones do provide you with that option.The procedure is: Phonebook--options--more--advanced--back up to memory card.
