When I try to play Need For Speed Most Wanted the game crashes to a black screen. Sound is still playing, but no video. Game requires 1.4Ghz, 32Mb. video. I have 2.2Ghz. AMD64 4400, Dual Core, 2gig. ram, 256Mb. ATI Radeon X1950 Pro video card. I also have 4 fans running in the tower, so I don't think it's overheating. Is there a problem with these cards? When I try to play Need For Speed Most Wanted the game crashes to a black screen. Sound is still playing, but no video. Game requires 1.4Ghz, 32Mb. video. I think you computer needs more graphics. Giving additional graphics card will surely help. I graphics card doesn't help then you have to get the motherboard's graphics section repaired.I think you computer needs more graphics. Giving additional graphics card will surely help. "every time I try to run any PC game I have" Running the games before, do you encounter the same problem you posted. If not there's a problem, have you read the system requirements of the game your playing before installing, unless its a mini game like book of worm etc. but most game now a days requires a decent video card considering you're using a AGP video card. try to run 3D Mark 2003, 3D Mark 2006 or FurMark (for stability) if there's no problem with the card it should stand the stress test or just a simple test. If you see garbled image during testing, your video card have problems consider replacing them.
Hopefully this information helps.
Thank you for using FixYa.
This happened to me when I had overclocked my video card, but other reasons could be that your video card is overheating for some reason. I would check to see that the fans in your computer aren't clogged, but if it persists you might have to buy a new video card.
You should always update the graphics card driver first.
If that doesn't help, does it crash to the desktop, or does it crash and shuts your computer down?
If it crashes to the desktop, then your system might not meet the system requirements of the game. If it shuts your computer down, then you might not have enough power, some hardwares are not compatible, or that the speed of some components are too high and unstable (unstable overclocking).
However, it's just possible that the game isn't working the way it should and just needs a reinstallation.
they could be glitchy games or they probably just dont agree with your computer u prob hav a program or a virus or sum that is stoppin thee games from running
The amount that you can overclock you're video card differes for each individual card. The limiting factors are temperatures and stability. If games start crashing, etc you should back off the overclocking. Also keep in mind the temperature of the card. Increasing fan speeds will lower the temperatures of the card. Increasing the fan speed (as long as you don't go beyond 100%) will not damage the card... It will be louder though. For the 9800gt, the maximum temperature before damage is 105 degrees C. Try to keep the temperatures at 80 or below optimally. Increasing the fan speed is the best way to accomplish this.
Go to the website for both the sound card and the video card. But you might already have the latest drivers, it may just be an issue with the game settings.
