Bought a used washer and it leaks out of the bottom and when it goes into the spin cycle it sounds like a turbo jet engine taking off. It is obviously off balance, but how can I repair it so it can be used?

I understand that you are hearing a loud noise in the spin cycle as well as water leaking from your Frigidaire washer, model# GLTF1040AS0.
You will commonly hear a high pitched "jet engine" noise during the spin cycle. If you are hearing a vibrating noise, it could be your washer is not resting firmly on the floor. With this you will adjust the leveling legs so the washer is level. If after leveling your washer you are still receiving a vibrating sound, you might want to redistribute the wash load inside your appliance.
If after you redistribute the wash load, you are still hearing a loud noise in the spin cycle, I suggest contacting a local authorized technician.
For the leak I recommend contacting a technician. This way they are able to find where the leak might be coming from and repair it before there is any damage done to your appliance. Hope this is helpful.
Did you have an oil leak at the bottom of the washer? If yes, chances are your transmission oil leaked and your transmission needs changing or repairing.
The problem is that the seals are leaking and allowing water to attack the tub bearings.
You need new tub seals and bearings.....not as difficult as it may seem.
see u tube video on replacing maytag seals and bearings

If this machine has a place to put pour fabric softener in that's sits under the lid on the cabinet? If so, the hose that allows the softener drain into the tub is either leaking or is disconnected.

if it sounds like a boeing jet, you will need a new seal & bearing kit. This is something a technician would have to do. many "special" spanner wrenches and spring tools required
Friend, ngafm at your service! How old is the washer? It sounds like the tire out of balance syndrome! Like a car tire that sings or vibrates when it's out of balance! It may be a worm part thats spinning and you should call service and not take any chances, with this matter! How long has it been sounding like this? are you sure it only happens in the spin cycle? and is the leak comming from the bottom front of the washer? most front laoders will leak due to a tear in the belows. that is the rubber boot that seals the washer tub to the front panel. if there was a hole or a tear in the bellows it should have a leak inthe wash cycle also. but there are also other possibilitys too.but its strange to only leak in a spin cycle due to the washer is extracting the water and not adding it. so check and see if it leaks in the wash cycle to and get back to me and we can go from there. looking through my training manual i dont see what could cause a leak in just the spin cycle
need make and model number. its not off balance the bearings are bad
