the problem are the convergence amps. Its a common problem for this model. Google the model # and you'll see several postings about the blinking light.

I have a Toshiba TP50H15. The problem started with the convergence changing, then it would pop back. It progressed to a flashing power light, but I could reset by unplugging and replugging. This worked fine until we went to Arizona for 3 months. Upon returning, it wouldn't power up, but would flash the power light. I did get the menu to come up a few times before the light flashed, so I know that function is there. I suspected a voltage problem due to dust etc, so I brushed and vacuumed everything, then replugged connectors. Now, the channel will appear, but the background screen is red, so I may cave contributed to the probnlem. A service manual would sure be a help. I have seen comments that this is probably a convergence IC. Also saw a link for replacements for about 9 bucks. Do you concur that this may be the problem? If so, which one is for the red? Thanks. I like this set and the Home Theater sound and sure would hate to junk it if repairable.

my tv is shot down and the red light is blinking
The power clicks on and red power light flashes but no sound or picture used to unplug for a while and would start working again also noticed a lot of red tint in the picture
BTW, I found a Sony Service Bulletin that listed STK392-110 (old number) and STK392-150 as the new number. Does this apply to the Toshiba replacement as well? Both appear to be available, but the new number is a bit cheaper. Are they interchangable? Did they just increase the voltage rating?
