If your TomTom shows a red cross, it means the device is not able to load the software to be able to operate. Some devices have this software on a SD-card, some have it stored on an internal memory.
If there was a SD-card in your TomTom, I would suggest to put it back. If there is a empty SD-slot on your device, it could be you lost your SD-card, but some TomTom devices have an internal memory AND a SD-slot for memory extension, so if you have an empty cardslot it doesn't necessarily mean there has to be a card in it.
When you never saw a SD-card, probably some data went corrupt on the internal memory. When you have a SD-card, probably some data got corrupted on the SD-card.
To repair the software, you need to connect your GPS to your PC or Mac with a USB cable.
You also need the program TomTom HOME. You can download it for free on the TomTom website.
With TomTom HOME you can update the operating system of your device for free (map updates are nor free).
Retry the web page by clicking the refresh/reload button or trying the URL from the address bar again. Even though the 500 Internal Server Error is reporting a general error on the web site's servers and not your computer, the server error may only be temporary. Trying the page again will often be successful. http://moritsolutions.com/
I had this issue with my Go930 and solved it for Tomtom!! Firstly, you need to ensure that you have the most up to date version of Tomtom Home, from here (http://www.tomtom.com/services) and then before you dock your 720, put an SD card in. It doesnt have to have anything on it and you should only only have to do this the first time. Tomtom home will then ask you which device you wish to update, internal HDD or external. Choose the internal HDD and you are sorted
I had the same problem before on a TomTom GO 730. The free internal memory was too small to hold the updated map so installation failed (the download to PC was OK, the message is misleading). It's a TomTom software bug to not check on the available free memory properly before the update process is started. My TomTom device required a new software install from scratch. Remove any excess MP3 or unused voices before you retry the update.
I would suggest you to look into Underground GPS forum. It has some good info. TomTom official site is not the only way to get and update maps on AVN2210P. Currently I am using version 840 latest USA and Canada map with Navcore 7.833 with no issue. Good luck.
just refresh...if that doesnt work Re-type the youtube address if that doesnt work try a different brower...if u dont have another browser download some konquerer, opera, firefox, flock, chrome
Go to My Computer, then the TomTom drive and click explore. Move your Map folder to the desktop. Then, delete everything on the tomtom drive. Unplug it, plug it back in, and start up Tomtom HOME and install all updates, keep unplugging, plugging back in, and installing updates until there aren't any more updates. Then move your map folder back to where it was on your TomTom drive.
