There is a loud squeaking noise coming from the area the motor is located. The noise seems to be coming from behind the motor and it only squeaks if you turn in one direction. It sounds like metal on metal.
I have taken the dryer apart trying to find where the noise is coming from (unsuccessfully).then reassembled the dryer. The noise continues but the machine still works.
is it possible that the blower is making the noise, as it sound like the noise is coming from the lint trap tube.
You need to change your drum rollers. To get to them you take the dryer apart from the front not the back. There are 2 screws where the filter goes in on top. Then pull the top toward you and up. Then remove the 2 - 5/16 inch screws on each side of the front panel about 2 to 3 inches down. Then pull the front up and out. Then you will see everything. Replace the belt, drum rollers, and idler making sure to oil each as you re-install them. Then put back together and your on your way.
I take issue with this response. No mention of oiling in the Sears instructions. I believe that these are "Oilite" type bearings not requiring oiling. Who is going to go in and re-oil drum rollers periodically, anyway? Oil will be disappear relatively quickly, especially in the hot dryer environment. Also, insufficient information to actually carry out the repair. Much better info available on this particular issue at ehow.com.

dryer starts with a loud constant squeaking noise. Sometimes stops squeaking then starts again. Kids say it has been doing this for about 3 days.
When tire moves forward, a rubbing sound comes from the back tire area in center by metal piece in center of tire. No sound when I move tire backward, only forward.
