How to I remove the drum from a Hotpoint WM64 washing machine? I need to change the bearings.

  • Anonymous Sep 05, 2009

Thanks Barkencoa, I followed this up to remove the bearings - that bit seems to be impossible!! One of them fell apart but left the outer casing firmly wedged and the other is fixed solid in the outer drum. I now have an interesting array of bits on my kitchen floor so need to decide my next move. Any ideas how to remove the bearings from the drum??

Hotpoint wmf560 aquarius washing machine

BIG JOB !!! The whole machine has to be stripped down. Ie/ The complete bowl assy has to be removed from the machine, the outer bowl separated from the inner bowl, the main seal removed, and the bearings pressed or knocked out of the housing in the rear of the outer tub. If the bearings have failed , it would be almost certain that the drum shaft has worn and or been damaged. You will need a set of bearings, drum spider shaft assy, and main seal. If its an older machine, it may not be worth it.

Is it possible to change the drum bearings on a Hotpoint WF860 washing machine??

it is possible but not a job that could be called easy, you have to completely dismantle the machine to remove the inner drum and then the bearings. It all depends on your level of mechanical ability but will be a job that takes you a few hours at least.

Hotpoint wm80 bearing replacement!!

The drum will have to be removed.
Bearing replacement on ANY Hoover can be difficult. Even for experienced technicians, it can take 1 to 2 hours as long as there are no surprises (corrosion, stubborn bolt etc). Also, all Hoover washers require at least 2 specialized tools for removing certain components of the machine.

Hotpoint WM64 doesnt seem to be taking in enough water

Close your faucet valve & unscrew your hoses to check screens on hoses & machine. Clean out well. Refit, check for leaks. Water shd be in good pressure. If this is not the problem change your inlet valve, it is easily done. Suggestion: use powders for front loaders.

Changing rear drum

I presume you mean the inner drum, this is major strip down, remove the top, remove the front panel and the control panel, remove and split the out drum in half, remove the drum pully, refit the nut and hit the spindle with a hammer using the nut to protect the thread, this will force the drum spider out of the bearings, reverse the process to reassemble. Regards and good luck Advisor
