Take the battery out and turn selection switch to camera and then turn it off. Put the battery back in and its working again.
if that doesn't work try
Try smacking the side of the camera relatively hard with the palm of your hand. Eject the tape and reinsert. You may need to do this a couple of times.

SOURCE: Sony Handycam CCD-F77 won't power up

Sony F77's are known for bad power supply circuit boards. I have one that powers up enough to eject or insert a tape but will do nothing else. Recently I took it to a repair shop. Paid $30 to have it diagnosed but elected not to pay the extra $164-$215 to have the board rebuilt.

It is difficult to find people who will even diagnose these old camcorders, but the repairman said the shops that rebuild the boards get 10-15 a week because people really like the high quality of this particular model. I paid over $1500 for mine in 1983 or so and may yet decide to have it rebuilt.

The repair shop I took mine to is Westronix in Salem, Oregon.

SOURCE: sony handycam ccd-trv35e how to video record on my laptop

Hi there.

The computer must have standard Audio/Video (A/V) RCA input jacks and compatible video capture software to complete this procedure. Because there are many different video capture applications on the market and we cannot reasonably know which video capture software you are using, Sony is unable to provide specific instructions or support for software we do not manufacture. However, many video capture applications have detailed help files, including specific instructions about capturing and importing video from a camcorder to a computer.

The help files should be available in the Help menu of the video capture software or in a separate file on the software disc. If you cannot find instructions in the help file or on the disc included with your software, consult the software manufacturer for more detailed support information.

  1. Connect an A/V cable to the A/V output jack of the camcorder:

If your camcorder has standard A/V RCA output jacks, use standard A/V cables for the connection. avstnd.png
If your camcorder has a mini A/V output jack, use an A/V cable with a mini connection on one end.

  2. Connect the other end of the A/V cable to the A/V input jack on the computer.
  3. Turn on the camcorder to the VCR, VTR or PLAYBACK mode.
  4. Cue the video in the camcorder to the beginning of the video footage to be transferred.
  5. Turn on the computer.
  6. Start the video capture software.
  7. Begin playing the video in the camcorder.
  8. Begin importing the video with the video capture software.
Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!

This cannot be done by you and you need to refer this to a trained camera technician.
Any force applied to remove the cassette will damage the mechanism.

Just bought the exact one from a yard sale for 20 bucks. Had the very same problem with the blue screen on playback. What i did is replace the battery in the small bay when you open the viewfinder. Try playing your tape again and it will work!

Rolling of picture

Hi,
You camera is PAL and you are attaching with Ntsc TV or VCR. Both Pal and Ntsc are different systems and incompatible to each other.
If you want to see correct playback of your Camera, it requires Pal or Multi-System color TV.
Need further info, please let me know.
