Kenwood KDC-X890 won't turn on

I've had my Kenwood for about a year. Today I plugged my Zune in to the AUX IN port. When I pressed the SRC button to navigate to AUX, it did not appear to be available. So I reset the unit per the instruction manual by pressing the small recessed button with a paper clip, and it wont turn on now. I made sure the recessed button is not stuck. I even went as far as to disconnect the car battery, hoping it would reset itself, but to no avail. Any help from a car stereo guru would be appreciated.

Thanks

Exactly the same issue. Aux was working just fine and now won't appear in the menu. iPod no longer works with steroe because of it. The car battery died today and wondering if it's related?

Maybe a fuse blew out or maybe a wire came loose. check the fuses first then check the wiring make sure everything is cool. then smell the cd player if it has a funky burnt smell kind of like burnt olives or almonds it blew the diode and its toast.

I have the kenwood kdc-mpv622 and trying to switch to AUX. I have the AV to AUX cord set up and plugged into my phone. I press the SRC button but only "Tuner" and "All Off" are options. Help?

According to the manual, the aux input for the mpv622 is an optional accessory. If it's installed, you select the aux input by pressing the [SRC] button. Select the AUX/AUX1 display. Then press the [DISP] button for two seconds. The selected input blinks. Press the ? or ? to change the input setting.

I bought a used car and it already had a kenwood kdc-x890 installed. my question is when i plug my zune or even just a mp3 player into the usb port it responds with [n/a data].

The KDC-X890 will play MP3s that are stored on a USB mass storage device, such as a USB thumb drive. It won't play music from another MP3 player such as a Zune through the USB port, but you could plug your MP3 player into the auxiliary jack.

When i turn on my indash dvd keenwood player it jus says standby and nothing works

Press the SRC button to turn unit on. The SRC button allows you to navigate between input sources,i.e. tuner, cd, aux, etc. Press and hold SRC button for second to turn unit off ( it will display standby).

I have a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X890 and somehow the AUX feature for my IPOD on the deck got turned off. How do I turn this back on?

From the stand by mode push the menu button. Scroll to the "Built in AUX" by pushing up or down on the Joggle. Now you can turn the function off or on by pressing to the right or left. Exit menu and Aux should be working.

I can't figure out how to get the player into mp3 mode. There is the button that changes between CD and tuner, but that doesn't do it.

Here's what they don't tell you: AUX isn't automatically an option when you scroll through the SRC button. You have to turn it on. I know, I know...stupid. I had to contact Kenwood (the maker of the unit) directly to get an answer.
  • First, press the SRC button repeatedly until it displays STANDBY.
  • Then hold down the Menu button until MENU is displayed.
  • Next press up or down on the right control knob, to scroll up or down, until AUX OFF is displayed.
  • Next hold the right control knob to the left or right until Aux switches on.
  • Now just press the Menu button to exit.
  • AUX will now be an option when you scroll through the SRC button

Turn aux on on kenwood kdc-mp205

In order to access the AUX option the stereo needs to be in Standby mode. To do this just hit the SRC or source button until you reach the Standby option. Now hit the menu button and scroll up or down until you reach the AUX on/off option and just turn it on. Hope you find this helpful.

KDC-MP522

Try putting the unit in standby via the "SRC" button FIRST..., then press the menu button and cycle through to the "AUX 1" option and activate this....then press menu button again. When the unit is next switched on, you should have an "AUX" option accessible via the "SRC" button which will cycle through all of the availale modes ....standby-tuner-cd-aux etc etc.
