I have a whirlpool model GS6SHEXNQ00 that i purchased 3-1-2005. Recently I have been getting water in the bottom of the freezer. Could this be caused because the water chute may be frozen solid. (This is a side by side model) If this is the problem how do I cure this problem Thanks GW

Have you changed your filter for the water/ice? If, not this can be the problem. We recently had this issue with our Frigidaire we were leaking water under the veggie bin so badly even leaking on the floor until we finally changed out the filter for the ice/water machine. I hope this solves your problem.

SOURCE: Ice Jam in Chute - Whirlpool IDI SxS

first check would be to see if the flapper door is closing all the way in the dispenser area. best way is to remove the ice bucket and shine a flashlight from the front up into the disp door area and look for light around the door from inside the chute.

another check would be to make sure the door delay mechanism is connected an not allowing the dispenser door to close to fast trapping a cubes in the door and causing an air leak in the chute..

Keep in mind if you use alot of crushed ice frost build up is faster than with just cubed.

icemaker is iver filling and running down through the freezer, some of the water runs out into the floor since the door gasket does not provide an water proof seal just an air tight seal

the ice maker can be adjusted, remove the cover off the frount of the icemaker and back the screw on the right side so that the indicator in the middle is twards the minus sign and you need to clear the frozen water out of the freezer drain pan so it can go to the drain pan down at the compressor
it might take a few adjustments on the ice maker to get it right

SOURCE: the coils are frozen solid in freezer behind back wall

frozen coils not always means freon problem. low air flow across evaporator coils could cause freeze up. if door is opened and closed an abnormal amount could cause a freeze up or even something pushed up against the air intake in the refridgerator. i would thaw it out completely and restart it, theres a chance it was nothing major. good luck

SOURCE: Frozen vents from freezer to fridge

you most likely have a defrost problem.or a clogged drain.you need to check your defrost heater defrost timer and thermostat.if ice is formed over drain then you can unclog drain with hot water.you will see when it is unclogged, water will run down drain without running over into bottom of freezer.

SOURCE: Water leaking from behind ice chute door & freezes under ice bin

You will have to remove the unit and access the rear of freezer. Check that the filters are not plugged as well as drain.

Leaking water

Did you inspect if the hole in the drain inside the fridge at the bottom is not blocked? Try to clean it with a swab. Sometimes this causes a "leakage" of condensed water.

Hi, We're sorry to hear about your Refrigerator. We would recommend manually defrosting your Refrigerator to see if you are able to get the paper towel out. If you are unable to get the paper towels out and the Freezer continues to produce ice it may require service. If you are in need of further assistance after trying the troubleshooting, can you please email us your address, phone number, the model and serial number, the website you were contacted on, Fixya, your review ID, and date of purchase to [email protected]?

My Whirlpool GS6Shexnq00 is not cool on either freezer or fridge. Fans are turning , and the compressor is running 5 to 10 seconds every 4 to 5 minutes. What seems to be the cause??

Hi,

As the weather is getting warmer for many people their freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong. If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.

If your refrigerator is running but warm, then…

Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

Whirlpool Custom Series refrigerator leaks -Model ET18JKXSN05

It sounds like the line you found is for draining the water from the defrost cycle. It should drain the water from melting the ice into the pan at the bottom so it will evaporate. Sounds like its being clogged is the cause of the water in your fridge.

Ice maker Stopped producing ice

What is sounds like is somehow either the water delievery system is clogged or frozen. If your getting water out of the door, then it is probably frozen. If you are able to turn off the freezer for a bit, that would be an easy way to see if that is the problem without having to deal with Whirlpool or a handyman.
