Hi, I ma trying to connect my gestetner DSM415f to my home network. I have the wim open and hve pinged to be sure that it os being picked up. I am trying to set the machine up to scan. I am operating windows xp and have set up a shared folder, net bios is on also Have been at this for 8 hours need help quick

Check to make sure file sharing is still on at the G3. If it is running a Server app or OS X Server, make sure File Sharing Services is up and running.
Also, check the network connections on both computers. First, open the Network System Preferences pane on the G3 and write down its IP address (Note: you should have IP addresses showing on both computers, and if they use the same router subnet, the first three parts of the IP address should be identical and the last part should be different, but still between 0 and 255. If this is not so, you have a network problem between one computer and the router or other device that provides DHCP services.).
Next, on your iMac, open the Network Utility application (in Applications/Utilities). Click the Ping tab and type in the G3 IP address, then click the Ping button. If the network is good, you should get round-trip time statistics for each ping.
If the Ping test fails, then do the following steps to troubleshoot the network. Check to see if you have link lights on for both computers at the network switch, if not, check the network cable for the unlit port. If they are connected to different switches, also check the uplink port link lights on each switch. Testing a suspect connection is most simply done by trying a known good cable, a different switch port, or another computer with a known good network interface.

Please check your WiFi settings and its program/software. Check also your internet connection while using gprs whether you get same problem or not.

check you have the correct port set up in the printer properties.. the default is usually parrallel or usb if connected with network cable open the printers faxes page on your computer and right click on your printer open the ports tab and check if it is set to TCIP you will have to enter the ip address here. you can get this by going to the copier press the 123 button at top left then press for printer and print the config page..hope this helps A

pf stands for print/fax. As far as i know it should not be able to scan but you can try the twain driver using a network cable.But don't think it will work.

this is not likely a problem with your router, here's a couple of tips (this typically works in xp...hate vista and haven't got ahold of 7 yet)

open command prompt, find your ip info (ipconfig /all) try pinging both computers' ip address (ping 192.168.x.x), then ping the router...if you're using local ip addresses it should be 192.168.0.1 or similar...its likely that one ping the other but not vice versa

MAKE SURE the first three numbers are the same, i had a problem when i missed a 192.168.1.1 vs a 192.168.0.1

If you have not created a home network, i'd recommend it...you don't have to make a network disc like it tells you to but make sure they're setup for the same network (i.e. XPHOME, JOHN'S NETWORK)

if they both still are not communicating after a few minutes, try to connect a hard line between them, set one up as the router and dns...your ip config should look similar to this:
DESKTOP LAPTOP
IP 192.168.0.2 192.168.0.3
SUBNET 255.255.255.0 255.255.255.0
GATEWAY 192.168.0.2 192.168.0.2

DNS 192.168.0.2 192.168.0.2
you wont be able to have internet access but I do this to check network integrity, try pinging again, it should work both ways now, set up the network again and then change your gateway and dns back to your router.

If you have the original printer driver disc, please insert it in the cd drive and install the driver.
You can even download the driver from Gestetner website.
Gestetner, Nashuatec, RexRotary DSm415 and
Ricoh Aficio 1515; Lanier LD015 and Infotec IS2215 are all the same.

hi, 1) Check the status of the "computer browser" and "netlogon" 2) check the network configuration on both end IP=? Netmask=? Workgroup=? if these are not in same range make it same range any verify if pinging is happening. 3) Check if any firewall is causing the system, if firewall is exist try to open all ports for temporary to check. 4) go to control panel==> double click the network setup wizard==> "and follow the steps" remember that you are keeping same workgroup. 5)run antivirus and antispyware if any network threats are causing the problem if it didn't help you, write your OS version and applications name that have been installed on the system. thanks Arun
