Re: Its actually a NWD-B103F when i try to copy files
Connect to system and when detected as a removable disk, format it....
if this doesnt work, look for the format option in the player itself under settings..that should definitely work.

Please try these steps: You don't need any driver software, if your pc has windows xp sp2 or later and Windows Media Player 11. 1. Connect the player to the computer. 2. From the computer, select start - Control Panel - Performance and Maintenance - System. "System Properties" is displayed. 3. Select Hardware tab, and open Device manager. 4. Open Universal Serial Bus controllers, and select USB Mass Storage Device or WALKMAN NWZ-XXXXX. 5. Select Action - Update Driver ... from the menu bar. "Welcome to the Hardware Update Wizard" is displayed. 6. A dialog on Windows Update connection will be displayed. Select No, not this time., followed by Next. 7. Select Install from a list or specific location [Advanced], followed by Next for the hardware install method. 8. Select Don't search. I will choose the driver to install., followed by Next for the search and install option. 9. Check Show compatible hardware, and then select MTP Device* in the model list, followed by Next. The device driver is installed. 10. "Completing the Hardware Update Wizard" message is displayed, and confirm "MTP Device" message. Click Finish.
I am not able to switch on my NWDB103/F mp3 player. Can anybody will help me. I went to Sony service center they have suggested to charge my mp3 for atleast 8 hours. After doing the so still the problem occured.
I had the exact same problem with my girlfriends sony nwd-b105 mp3 player. I fixed it by downloading the firmware version 1.2, which can be found here at the sony support link below.
- Backup your mp3 files
- Make sure your mp3 device is NOT plugged in
- Run the firmware executable
- When it asks for it plug in the mp3 device
- Check option: format data area
- Press Start
- When finished, take the mp3 device out and press the power button
- If everything went well it is creating a database again and will function correctly as usual
- Copy your mp3 files back to the mp3 device
- Enjoy your music again!

Had a similar problem with the B103F. Not sure it will work for the non F version. Goto Sony's support site at http://www.sony-asia.com/section/support. Search model - NWD-B103F (non F is not listed) Look at the "latest downloads" and select the "firmware update program". (alternately you could first select the "download" section and then select the model.) Download. Run (without the unit plugged) and when asked plug the unit. To be on the safe side, ask it also to format the data section. When finished, the unit should be OK.
