Flash not working on kodak digital camera - Kodak EasyShare Z612 Digital Camera

Kodak no longer repair... Buy a Kodak P20 flash (or similar) to go on the hotshoe, and set the flash to external only in the camera menu... works a treat!

There is no firmware available online for this model. KODAK suggests a repair for this fault.

However due to spare part shortage this model is no longer repaired. Instead KODAK offers a trade up option where you will have the opportunity to trade up to a newer model 25-30% cheaper than the market price.

Try pressing the flash button on the top front right of the camera. If the camera is not on 'auto' mode, you can have flash, red eye flash, or no flash.

It is very hard to order the parts for yourself. If you ask kodak they usually tell you to send it in.
They do sell some replacement parts at this site:

this appears to be something that kodak would need to repair. Go to this link My digital camera is broken. How can I get it repaired or serviced? and follow the instructions on the screen, if this does not help then there is an option to send a repair request to kodak, which they will do free if it is still under guarantee.

You can take it to any camera store or Best Buy and see it they can replace it. Check with Kodak and see if they cover it on a warranty.

to try if the flash is working..

*Turn off the camera.
*Install a set of new or fully charged batteries into the camera.
*Turn on the camera.
*Press the Flash Status button to scroll through the flash options until Fill Flash (the lightning bolt icon alone, with no other letter or symbol) is displayed. This forces the camera to use the flash.

No way Check Kodak but I suspect a new camera is the economic answer - unless you have had it only a short while- check out Kodak
