I've got a Hunter ceiling fan that is about 2 years old. Recently, I have been unable to turn the light OFF with the remote. The fan and all speed buttons work fine. Battery has been replaced. The fan hasn't been hardwired to a wall switch, so I just have the remote to run the unit. Any help out there?
Unfortunately, you either have a faulty reciever or remote. A replacement will cost $30-$40 at homedepot. And it doesn't matter which is faulty because you can't purchase them seperately anyhow.

SOURCE: Hunter ceiling speed.
A fan that old has a muilti speed capacitor. It could be that or the swicth. First thing to do is test the swicth with a voltage tester to see if power is switched to different posts if it does switch it is prob. the cap. Good luck trying to find one.

It's a 3-speed ceiling fan that's for sure. I think the same a fixer1950 already said...
