Brother GX 8250: my problem is with the carriage.

Brother GX 8250 typewriter: my problem is with the carriage. The return key returns the carriage to the original left-side position, but fails to advance to the next line. There's just a buzzing noise. I am able to move the carriage manually.

Typewriter troubles

First, the paper problem is most likely that your paper release lever is in the forward position, just click it back and you will find that the paper will stay in place and space upwards when carriage return is pressed. Make sure that the printing unit can move freely to both extremes of its travel when the machine is turned off. Lift the top cover up and move the print unit by hand, it will feel stiff but it will move. If all this is in place your problems are over....
