What heater do you have? Is it very cold there and your heater is running on emergency heat? Or you raised the temp more than 2-3 degrees in the morning cold?
Jimmy, 134a is the Freon that is in the unit that makes it get cold. To level one of those, the front feet screw adjust or screw in and out of the base and the back feet which are probably rollers have adjusting screws too.
During very cold ambient temperatures the refrigerator may stay cold enough to seldom need to operate the cooling unit. The thermister (thermostat) is in the refrigerator and tells the cooling unit when to operate. With the refrigerator staying cold enough because of outside temperatures, the freezer may not be kept cold enough. The Climate Control Switch keeps the light on in the refrigerator when the door is shut so the unit will operate more often, keeping the freezer cold enough. Dometic recommends turning the switch off during warm weather.
I believe you are having problems with the auto damper between the freezer and fresh food compartment part number 61005971 Maybe if I send you the service manual you could get someone to remove it and test. It has a themostat coil and bulb attached that senses the temperatures and opens and coloses to adjust the fresh food sections temperature at safe levels. If defective or stuck it closes or stays wide open. I will send you more details in a moment, Thanks Sea Breeze
I know the minimum operating temp for many refrigerators is around 33 F (about a degree above freezing or so). This is due to the refrigerant gas within the compressor and the fact that it is not stable at low temps. Typically, a refrigerator's minimum ambient temp should be 50 degrees F (10 degrees C).
I don't know if there is a whole lot you can do. The refrigerator really wasn't built to work in such cold weather. You may either have to relocate it, put a heat source near it or look into a special freezer that is *supposedly* able to operate in much colder ambient temps.
If any part of the automatic defrosting system isn't working, the evaporator will turn into an iceberg and no cold air will circulate into the lower compartment.
Possible causes in that case could be the defrost timer, the defrost thermostat ("bimetal"), the defrost heater, the defrost thermal fuse (if there is one), or the wiring and plugs connecting them.
Removing the back panel of the freezer compartment should reveal the iceberg and allow you to defrost it with a hair dryer or fan. Then you can get at the parts to test them (except the defrost timer, which may be down by the compressor).
