2" black line from top to bottom

My screen has a two inch solid black line that runs from top to bottom about a foot in from the left hand side of the screen, i have read about similar solutions for a hitachi screen which involve soldering on this site.

just wondering if anyone would know of a similar solution for this as i would rather not pay loads of £'s for an engineer to come out and do 'the teeth dryer!'

    up and down, it seems to be there when the sceeen is first switched on, but after around an hour or so it disappears and then comes back every so often

    I too have an LG Flatron Plsama MZ-42PZ44 and there is an 1.1/2" - 2" black line that appears and disappears every now and then when it feels like it........just as you desribe yours...



    I have not got a clue why this is and have emailed LG and also someone on ebay that appears to be selling boards to see if knows why this is.



    Will update if I find anything out!

    I also have the same problem with my Lg plasma, the model is the same (MZ-42PZ44) i have 2 lines going vertically from the top to bottom of the screen, on the left hand side. Could anyone reccomend me a solution to this problem.

    Yes, same problem, 2" black band top/bottom - left of centre.

    Any suggestions?

    lg mz-42pz44 vertical 2" black line in middle. am using set in spain and would like help. i have done electronic course in england so i can repair but would like to find source of problem before i start.

    have you tried other sources like a dvd player does it happen on that also?
    I looked though other forums and have seem similar problems with the same set. found one where they had to replace a board for £'s 300 didnt say what board or anything.

Yes, this is rare but I have seen it before--not fixable if it is what I think it is----It is what is called a Dome effect---the shadow mask in the picture tube is actually contracting and or expanding depending on temperature---

Directly behind the phosphor coating (the stripes that you see on the screen) is a metal screen--the holes or perforations in it line up with the stripes on the phosphor screen.

Some masks either have a material or a defect causing the dome effect----Not likely to be anything else---a Pin amp problem will not usually act the way you describe but a shadow mask inside the picture tube will act exactly that way.

A bar code stripe on the right side of the copy.
i'm not sure if you're talking about a solid black band or a bunch of little stripes running down page. does it happen when you run an internal report or only on copies? if its a black solid band, check and make sure the bluish colored tab on top of the drum is all the way to the left side. if its a group of fine lines, depending on whether it happens on internal reports or not, it could be the drum is going bad or you may have a bad scanner. write back with a little more info if this suggestion doesn't work.

Vertical Black line 3 inch width on Plasma Samsung 42C96HD after 2 months of use
I also have the same problem I phoned Samsung today to explain the tv was only 14 months old, they didn't wanna no because it was out of warrenty by 2 months. I am getting a black solid line down the left hand side of the screen. I ended up phoning Dixons were we bought it from, they have told me to get an independent engineers report done & send the report to them within 14 days. Dixon told me it was a known problem with Samsungs. They said they will fix it free of charge if they can if not they will send vouchers to the same value of the television. So beware stay clear of Samsungs.
