Stuck Lens My 4 year old got a hold of my Konica Minolta Dimage G6000 and now my lens is stuck half way out. It will not move in or out. When it powers on I get "system error S0042." As I do not have a lot of money I am tempted to take it apart and see if I can fix it, but I don't want to make any problem worse. Any suggestions? Thanks, Todd.

If you have recently dropped the camera you may have damaged the lens tube (housing). This damage will prevent the lens from moving properly and will cause the camera to shut itself off after a few seconds. If the lens is damaged the camera will require professional repair. If the lens is not damaged, the problem may be battery related. Make sure that you have the correct battery type installed, and that the batteries are fresh/fully charged. If the problem persists, you may have corrosion on the battery contacts inside that camera that is preventing full battery power from flowing to the camera. Remove the batteries and wipe the inside camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sand paper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and reinstall them in the camera. This cleaning solves the problem about 90% of the time, and I hope it works for you.

Sustem Error S0042

Todd, What you can do is to powerit on and try to pull the lens out manually. Do not use too much strength or rotate. But try it a few times and the lens casing may stop touching the camera body. Once the lens comes out fully then the camera will boot up and work.

My konica minolta Dimage z2 doesn't focus

Your problem may be that the camera is "locked" on manual focus. If so, you will need to go to the menu, scroll to "2" menu in "P" mode, and click on "focusing mode". From there, hit "single focus or continuous focus." It should correct the problem. Also, is the lens dirty? A dirty lens will not benefit the camera. The light may be too low, also. Try using a flashlight to focus, then take the picture.

The lens elements or aperature have become misaligned or stuck. You might try selecting various focus and digital/analog zoom mode settings.

Dimage Z1 lens stuck

With the camera turned on and the lens extended gently bend the lens outward in three places and the lens assembly will come off. This allows access to the zoom assembly which is probably the part that is rattling as it slides the back lens along its shaft. You may want to let a professional do this for you. After you find the problem reverse the procedure to reattach it.

your lens mechanism is stuck up! try pulling the lens with slight force, if you are lucky the culprit that is blocking the mechanism will get loose. If you are not lucky theres no way you can remove or fix the problem than sending it to the authorized service center. =-(

Here in the Philippines, we use conversion method, since all cameras today are made of plastics, we convert those easy to break parts with metal.
