I have a Panasonic plasma TV, model TH-50PZ7000. I notice it is quite warm when turned on. Is this typical or is it indicative of a problem that needs fixing?

Otherwise it seems to work well except for the fact it is now displaying closed captions even though in my settings it shows that CC option is clicked off.

If you are watching something on a converter box and you are still getting closed captioning, check the converter box, not the TV, to make sure cc is off.

Yes, plasmas do run warm/hot...

Its in the TV Setup. The Cable box will output the Closed Captioning on Line 20 or 21 of the Picture - this is just at the top of the TV Picture where you can't see it. The TV Menu should have a choice of closed Captioning like CC1, Teletext, etc. and one of them should be selected. After exiting the menu, you should start seeing Closed Captioning
on the tv.

SOURCE: connecting asus M51V to Panasonic TH-42PX8A plasma via HDMI

Hi

Make sure your TV does indeed support the resolutions you are trying to use. Some low quality HDMI cables can also be troublesome in higher resolution so try one you are sure to work.

Regarding to the desktop only being extended when using the RGB cables, try bringing up the desktop properties window, select the TV as the primary monitor and select "Use this monitor as Primary monitor". You might have to drag the windows Taskbar over to the other monitor, just rightclick the taskbar, uncheck "Lock the Taskbar" and drag it over to the other monitor.

Hope you find this solution helpful, and please rate it if you do so..

best regards,

Karl

SOURCE: Turning off Closed Caption

Are you using a cable/satellite box or just basic cable service?
When you go to the menu what options become available to you?

If the following options are present-
picture
smartlock
setup
cc

If not try to press both the volume buttons on the front of the TV at the same time and see if the above options become available.
If so use the channel down button on the front of the tv to scroll to "cc"

Once CC is highlighted use the volume + button until it says CC off.

If these menu options don't become available please reply what options are shown.

Good Luck.

I have a panasonic plasma tv. Model #

I don't know but I'm having a similar problem. I have a plasma
TH-50PZ77U. It will run for a while and then shuts off. Also, the volume goes up and up and then it shuts off at times. Like I have a ghost here. I had both of my sat. recievers replaced. It seems to get worse over time with shut down. I called panasonic and they had no info and denied this was an issue but I beg to differ from my research here online. It's only a few years and we paid lots of $$$. They gave me a # for service 1 hour away!

Panasonic plasma tv doesn't turn on, red light flickers twice

hi look for any swollen capacitors, also plasma's do suffer from poor solder joints on the power board, so check for any rings around the solder pads, test the voltages on the white connectors with a meter the voltages will be written along the connector, thanks

TH-42PX60U wont turn on. Blinks 10 times. replaced the power supply board, but the same issue.

What I'm learning is there are several models of Panasonic TV's that have a video card that doesn't play well with HDMI applications and the end result is, you need to call this number and not only make arrangements to replace the bad board, but also this!
Your model doesn't show below, but I'd certinly inquire about the necessity of a "Firmware" update!,,,Panasonic knows FULL WELL they have a HUGE problem here!
Hope this helps!

At panasonic.ca I found the listing for the fw update under customer support-important notices
