I have a side by side fridge / freeze. it no longer despenses ice.
the ice maker is filled with ice which has not despensed.
if you take out the ice maker, defrost all ice, reinstall the ice maker then it fills as normal with water that frezes but still will not despense the ice.
the forks are in the two oclock position pointing towards front of freeze.
i have replaced the ice maker and the same problem exists on the new unit.
what do i need to check?
How can i test to determine if this is correct?
Sounds like the optics are bad part # 4389102 this model(if we have the right model#)has two optics boards one receiver one emitter on either side of the door opening which shoot a beam from one to the other through the opening in each side of the bin,as long as nothing blocks that beam and the freezer is cold enough to chill the thermostat to temp in the icemaker, then it should be dumping ice.
Click Here=> 4389177 Water Inlet Valve will need replaced. You mentioned the water is filling the tray OK then my focus would be on the ice maker.

Most times it is less expensive to just replace the ice maker module. Here is a helpful video that helps explain everything about the Whirlpool Ice Maker below. If you find this solution helpful please rate my solution, Thanks Sea Breeze
