Both devices supports optical, get an optical cable.
Alternatively you can use a RCA to 3.5mm cable.

I have looked up the infomation on your TV I noticed that your TV has two HDMI input plugs. Since your SONY BRAVIA is hooked up to one port, you need to buy another HDMI cable for your PS3. On your tv remote you should have an option to switch from video 1 to video 2 so then you can switch from the SONY BRAVIA to the PS3 the problem is you will only hear your PS3 Sound from you TV. If you want to hear your PS3 sound from your SONY BRAVIA you need to buy an optical cable (also called TOSLINK) to connect from your PS3 to the SONY BRAVIA.

Hope that helps!

SOURCE: BRAVIA TV KDL-40V2500

i had the same problem and the only way i could solve it was to disconnect power from the tv, let it "reset" then it would be ok for a bit. the problem went away entirely when the cable company updated its software for its hd box. might be coincidence....

also, pre-update, the resolution wouldnt automatically set correctly. If I turned on the tv to a hi def station, it would set to 480 and only set to 1080 when i changed to a normal station then back to the hd. then it was fine. again, after the update from the cable company this went away.

SOURCE: No sound on pc connection

HDMI outputs from devices such as DVD players do carry both video and audio, but the HDMI output from your computer video card only carries video. You'll need to connect a cable from the computer sound output to the TV as well.

Sounds like you are using a component cable(red, green, blue) rather than an HDMI cable.

Component cables are fine to use but if one of the 3 cables is disconnected, loose or bad, you may see blue video.

Check for loose connections or bad cables and make sure the proper color is plugged into its matching color.

Sony BRAVIA KDL-40V2500 audio not working

I would Google the model number carefully for "problems" "no sound" and usually this set will display some kind of error code===it may even have a hard reset to try===service manuals are available on the net/web to allow you to see how the sound circuit is set up etc.

I have a sony bravia 40w 4100 i can be watching tv and the sound would go for 15 sec and come back this has happen on all channels the cable box and all cables been change

There is a software update for this model to correct this. You can contact Sony directly and they will send it to you OR if you have a USB thumb drive handy, you can do it yourself by visiting the support section of the Sony eSupport website. There you can search by model number and download the update and view the instructions on how to apply it to the TV. It's not a difficult process, but it is a process never the less. I hope this was helpful, best wishes.

PROBLEM

Your PC has an audio output jack it is a 1/8th inch stereo jack. Your TV has a PC audio input connection (usually RCA jacks red and white). You need a cable that can connect the two together. It will look something like this:

Hi, Just bought a 26" sony bravia tv. I don't use cable or satillite. I just need to find out what kind of cable I need to connect my panasonic DVD player to the TV and which port do I plug it into?

The best quality would be a HDMI cable, if your DVD player has a HDMI port on the back.

Any of the HDMI ports on the TV can be configured to take the audio over HDMI (digital audio) or over a separate rca stereo patch cable (menu option in the TV for analog audio).

So if your DVD has HDMI, just buy a HDMI cable and you're done. If you cannot figure out how to switch the audio input, there is no big harm in just installing a separate RCA patch cable between the two for the sound.

The next-best would be a component-video cable (Red/Yellow/Green) RCA cable, with a separate red/white RCA audio cable.

Alternately, if your DVD has a S-video port, that is comparable to component video. Then you would need a separate audio cable as well.

Last but not least, if your DVD player is ancient, it may only have a yellow video out connection, then red/white for audio. You then just need a standard yellow/red/white RCA component cable.
