My work is throwing out a yamaha ypd121 piano. I feel it is a waste to just throw it out. it looks in great condition only issue is some of the keys are sticking. Is this a big issue or would I be better just throwing into the skip?

SOURCE: I have a Technics digital piano with 1 dead key.

If your piano is the same as mine, there is a rubber membrane with contacts imbedded in it that sits on top of a circuit board. The key pushes the contact in the membrane onto the contact causing a note on. What happens is the cylindrical part of the membrane that holds the contact can get torn and the contact will no longer travel in a straight line to trigger the note. The entire membrane strip has to be replaced. The strip on my piano was discontinued and I had to manufacture one from an extra Roland membrane that had some bad contacts in it. You will have to contact Technicsat www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/PNAEndecaSearchCmd for support. If you don't feel comfortable tackling the repair yourself consult a good piano tuner/repair place in your area for advice.

SOURCE: Keys sticking on Yamaha p120 digital piano....how do I open it up

you may not need to open it up.
try using a wax based furniture polish on the keys, it will leave a layer to act as a lubricant between the keys.

SOURCE: Kurzweil piano keys are clicking seems to be worn out.

I don't see you doing any damage by having a look but I would get a piano tuner or repairer in to investigate the problem expertly - no slight on you. But if your Church congregation depend on it it's well worth the money.
Good Luck

SOURCE: Yamaha P-200 electric piano does not have any

Plug in your ear phones to see if you can hear the sound that way. If not you are experiencing some internal failure in your integrated amp output.

In that case you will need to get authorised service.

YPG625 Humity problem

The overal sound of yamaha YPG 625 and keys operation are exellent by the price. The only problem I eperienced is the instrument operation under high humidity environment. Under this condition many keys sound loud over others, furter more with no expectation from mucisian. This problems is normal for that model because the music store change my previously YPG625 for the same problem<br /> <br /> Sometime I solve the problem to located the instrument under sun exposure and cover the keys and display to avoid direc sun exposure.<br /> <br /> Another is apply with a hair dryers over the keys. But is very disconform situation, and I dont know if the Yamaha exposed this isntrument under high humidity environment durig the product test. I has a Ymaha very low budged digital piano and Roland controller A33 in the same condition and never eperience problems, only with this model.

Why do one piano key , when hit, sound louder than other keys ?

I am not an expert but with the little knowledge I have I would suggest the following.
Check the 'Throw' on the hammer, is throwing the same distance as all the other hammers.
Check the felt dampening, this usually moves when you press one of the pedals. Is the felt different to the other keys.
A lot also depends on which string it is, top end or bass. The string could be past it's sell by date and causing the problem.
Hope this helps in some small way.

The graded action has stopped working, any help greatly appreciated!

The graded action is only that there are different counterweights on the various keys. They are a sort of "J" shaped pieces of steel that vary in length. I don''t know how the graded part could stop working, as they just vary the key "feel" across the keyboard. Are you saying this key "feel" has been lost?

The keys in the middle range of my Yamaha electronic piano P-200 seem to be stuck and are very difficult to play - takes a lot of strength to get any sound. Could humidity be a problem? Could piano...

Although the keys have a weighted feel, this is not because of a system involving connection t hammers as in an acoustic piano. This is done mechanically, however, which would indicate a need for cleaning. If you have an authorized Yamaha service center in you area they would need to do the cleaning.

Need help in choosing the best digital piano you can recommend for me for A budget of 2500-3000 usd

The Korg SV188 has stunning realism in the Grand Piano arena. It uses a 12AX7 tube in the preamp output for that classic analog warmth lacking in so many garden market digital stage pianos these days. It has weighted hammer action and carries a price tag of $1,699.00 at American Musical Supply.com They even throw in a extra years coverage at no cost. The Yamaha MOXF6 88 key (same price) is another fine grand piano that wont disappointed but be prepared for a large learning curve learning all the rest of it functions, there are plenty to chose from. Roland wins hands down with its RD300nx, $1,799.00 and the RD700NX $2,699.00 simply the best digital stage pianos money can buy . Look up the specs at AMS

Kurzweil digital piano unpredictable voices and volume

The contacts of various switches and keys are likely dirty. They are often conductive rubber and need cleaning with 99% isoprophly alcohol and q-tip. Clean both the conductive rubber pill and th circuit board traces they contact.

Yamaha P-120 Piano: Graded Hammer (NOT key) dysfunction?

My opinion is you should take the instrument to a yamaha authorized service center.. It's doubtful this will be user serviceable, particularly if the problem isn't on all the keys, and the service center will have access to the parts needed as well as more information from Yamaha than they will share with an end user.

Yamaha digital piano keys

Depending where you are, you gotta check with your Yamaha distributor, or else on Amazon. Then get a tech to take the thing apart (ugh) and replace them keys.
Good luck from Venezuela....
