This is another possibility, the socket where the adapter lead plugs into your computer, from the mains! this could be faulty dry jointed. Just thought it might be of help, Because the problem you had I had and this was the culprit!

What do you mean by "When I reboot without the ethernet cable it boots u......?" It boot ok and the flashing orange light, stop? Try using a local USB connection to a nearby computer and see if it works.
try reseating memory modules, see if nay change, if no, then try the modules individually, one may be bad.
Try running system in safe mode (F8 at boot) see if it will get past issue
when the computer starts, before Windows runs, there is a message saying which key to click if you want to go to the BOIS. usually it is the "Del" key. in the BOIS, look for the boot sequence and make sure the DVD is the first one.
Do this: Start the computer in safe mode. If it starts OK, then click on Start and Run and then type in msconfig. In the next window go to the startup tab (upper right of the window). When the tab opens, at the lower right, click on disable all. Now restart the computer normally. If you had a bad motherboard, it would not start in safe mode. One of the items that showed up in the startup tab is causing the problem. You can run msconfig when running normally and enable the things one by one until you find the one causing the problem. Oh--BTW--after running msconfig, when you start Windows, you will get a message saying the the utility had been run. You have to click the little box at the lower left of the window, or it will throw you right back into the configuration.
Try booting to "Safe Mode" (tapping the "F8" key on boot), or however you can get to your Desktop, click start, right click "My Computer", select "Properties", then "Advanced" tab, then click the "Settings" button under "Startup and Recovery", then uncheck "Automatically restart" under "System Failure", click "OK" then "OK" again and restart your PC.
That should allow you to run without the instant restarting on BSOD, so you can repair/remove Mcafee.
don't hit ctrl, f11 instead hit F8 and then go into Dell Factory Image Restore, that will wipe, format and reinstall all the factory software that's stored on the Recovery Drive (usually the D: drive) good luck.
There are 2 ways by which you stop this from happening
1. Right click on My computer >> Goto Properties >> click Advanced >> Under Performance click on settings >> click the advanced TAB on the top >> Under virtual memory click on Change >> Select " System managed size and then click on Set >> Click OK >> Click apply and OK >> Reboot PC
2. Once PC is rebooted
Goto Ctrl panel >> Open Internet Options >> Click on Advanced TAB on the top >> Under Browsing category Look for " Enable third party browser extensions (Requires Restart)
MAKE SURE that this option should be unchecked ( Not ticked )
Click Apply and OK
Click Close
Close Ctrl Panel
Reboot PC
NOW it should work fine

press F8 key (just after BIOS screen) at the next cold reboot and you will see a DOS screen with 3 or more options. Read each of them and I think you will see one option is to resume setup. This option places the system at a safe entry point to continue the setup. Another option may read "cancel setup and restore previous system"...this one may be used if you cannot get the "resume setup" option after repeated tries.
