There are two types of USB cables used to connect Garmin automotive devices to the computer: mini-USB and micro-USB.
Locate the USB port on your device and reference the images below to know which USB cable to use. The USB port may be located under the device's mount.
mini-USB port:
Some devices come with a USB cable in the box when purchased new. If you need one, however, a compatible mini-USBcable can be purchased fromGarmin's website.
micro-USB port:
Though your device should have come with a cable in the box when purchased new, a replacementmicro-USBcable can be purchased from Garmin's website.
When connecting your device to a computer, it is recommended to use a Garmin brand USB cable to ensure that the device communicates with the computer properly.
Some newer Mac computers may have only USB-C ports, which would require an adapter to plug in a Garmin automotive device as seen below.

This unfortunately can happen. The 2xx & 2xxW are known to sometimes have the memory corrupted at turn on. Be glad you didn't lose your map or system software. I can understand your frustration losing your favorites.
The next time, once you have all of the favorites back in, connect your Nuvi to the PC and make a backup of the file "current.gpx" from your gpx folder. This will allow you to make a backup of your favorites.

you will have to open the unit and solder it back to the pcb board. This is a difficult job and requires some knowledge of working with micro size components. You will need a magnifying lens preferably one that is hands free and strong, a fine point soldering set up, a #5 screw driver set with star and philips tips. There are 2 screws on the back lower area under the label. You can buy plastic tools to open the case. Be careful. separate it slowly all the way around. There is a ribbon wire connected to the lcd so don't rip it open. Remove the screws on the pcb board connecting it to the back case. Unplug the speaker and the battery. Good luck.....
SOURCE: Yes, whats the difference between fast route &
This is real simple, fast route on all GPS,S including yours simply means fatest route by time to get there based on best roads and speed limits. Shortest route might be shorter in miles per say, but not always the fastest, because it will take you threw neighborhoods or back roads , school zones etc.... So, most the time you will and should use fastest route as it is best time, fuel economy and safest. Please if this has helped you, then respond with 4 thumbs up and a small positive testamony. There should be a black dot to press on the calibration screen. Keep pressing the dot as it moves around the screen, you may need to press very firmly and use a stylus until it says calibration complete.
This usually occurs when a unit is dropped or left in extreme temperatures or jammed it a glove box or console with things jammed against the screen. It could also occur if you are touching the screen as you start.
