This camcorder is an earlier model thus the zoom control motor could be weak, if so open it and take out the camera section and unscrew the zoom control motor, loosen it, some sort of sticky grease on the worm gear also obstructs, clean it with small brush or cotton bud. then apply a little silicon grease. don't let dust go in.

The lens error is due to failure of the Zoom lens control system , mostly this can be mechanical problem. You can remove battery and card replace battery and while switching on tap the lens hood on your hands so as to disengage any dirt or mechanism being struck.
Use some air to blow between the lens to dislodge any sand particles struck inside. If none of these works then you can think of taking consensus with the service centre.
The repair cost cannot be too high as the camera is working fine . Also when the zoom is pressed , you can slightly tap , also use some soft heating using a hair dryer.. If none of these work get estimate before you decide. It will be good to have it checked at the Panasonic service as you do not have to run around for spares.
