Sony sa-pm65md only works with remote. It may have overheated when an object was placed over the vent on top of the unit. Now the system will only turn on with the remote and none of the buttons work.

Thank you for your reply Franco, yes thats correct. NONE of the physical buttons on the device work - switch on, eject, turn volume etc.. the only way to operate the unit is with the remote control. Something must have overheated inside the unit causing this?

Hello again Graham, another possibility that could have happened, is that some liquid has been spilled and has entered or they have tried to remove the front or cover and they forgot to connect the flat ribbon of connection of functions or it could have broken in the try, this is simple assumptions
I hope you can solve the problem
    Greetings Franco Dosil

SOURCE: Bose 3-2-1 Remote Control stopped working

I purchased a LAZBOY universal remote (at Fred Meyers, on sale for $9.99) and after a bunch of research and trial-&-error, was able
program it with a code (1629) which works reasonably well with the
Bose 3-2-1.

I don't have all the system-level functions (which I never utilized anyway) but do have all the basics as far as power, volume, source, and CD/DVD control.

SOURCE: My remote won't start the fire in my vent free fire place.

Mine did the same thing. What happens is when the batteries die and the remote sits, the remote loses its address. I found this link to the remote manual online. You have to locate your receiver in the fireplace insert. On the receiver there is some dip switch settings. Open up the link below and go to the appendix at the bottom and find your address of the receiver, mine was 005. Go to your remote and power on. Hit the up arrow until you are at the timer. Now hit the left arrow on your remote 10 times, this will diplay the address of the remote, mine was 000, change this number to match your address of the receiver by hitting the up arrow on the remote, I changed mine to 005. Now hit the left arrow again and this will take you out of programming. Power on your remote and should work, enjoy.

Cannot control receiver from remote

Does the power button on either remote work? If nothing works, we'll try to see if your remotes are actually functioning.

Get some electronic device which can view a live image on a screen. A cell phone camera, digital camera, digital video camera, and (I think) even a web-cam will work. If you're using a digital (still) camera, you don't need to take a picture as long as you see a live image on the screen. Take your remotes and find the LED on the front end. There may be one or two. (If there's two, one actually isn't an LED, but that's not too important.) Point the front of the remote at the camera (LED's facing the camera), and press buttons. You should see the LED's light up in the live image. While these LED's normally produce light which the human eye can't see, digital image sensors can, and they change this invisible light to light we can see, on the screen. (Cool right?) So, if your remotes are working then you'll see the LED light up on the display. (To make sure your camera is actually working as I am suggesting here, find a remote which you know does work and try it.)

If the LED's are not lighting up, (and you've verified that your live digital video device can "see" these type of LED's), then your remotes are dead. Yes, it's unlikely that both your original and universal remotes are both dead - but it's possible. If the LED's are lighting up then you have one of two problems. One: the remote is not correctly paired with your system, and two: the IR receiver in your system is pooched. Let's look at the fixes for these.

Not correctly paired. Your universal remote has some sort of programming or learning function. Try programming it again, or programming it to a slightly different model of receiver and see if it works. If you've "learned" it from your original remote and it's not working, then maybe your original remote isn't paired correctly with your unit. If this is the case, contact either the place you bought it, or the manufacturer and tell them what's happened. You can't change how the original remote "talks" to your system.

The IR receiver in your system is pooched. Contact the place you purchased the unit, or the manufacturer, and have SA-HT930 system serviced. If you're handy with electronics you might get lucky and find something burnt out inside, but in my experience this will be %0.25 successful. If the rest of your system works perfectly, I wouldn't crack open the case - it's not worth your time.

Hi I have a panasonic theatre surround system model number SA-HT900 but I need a remote for the unit but can't find one anywhere . There is another model a panasonic SC-HT900 will the remote for this...

The remote for the SC-HT900 will work with the SA-HT900. The SA-HT900 refers to the model number of the amplifier of the home theater system but the model number for the whole home theater system including the speakers is SC-HT900.

RE: SC-HT800V I need a replacement remote control unit. Our system works perfectly, but we need the remote to be able to use the system toit's full potential. Please tell me where I can find one.

There are a number of sites that offer replacement remotes but Panasonic also lists two sites. They are:

Panasonic.newremotecontrol.com

Panasonic-remotes.com

Interesting that someone would build a unit with AM/FM which is only accessable with the remote.

My panasonic sa ht930 volume when you give me presents on the screen and I f6 1 off

F61 is an error code.
It will automatically shuts down your unit.
This is very common on your unit.

Try to checked if the fan is working or not.
I have repaired some unit before, this is the caused why f61 appeared.
The symptom is shutting down the unit after a few minute.
If the fan is not working it will shuts off automatically to avoid further damaged to your output I.C. from overheating.

If confirmed that the fan is working then I've suspect that your output I.C. is shorted.
This is quit technical and need to send to repair shop to isolate the faulty parts.
The output IC of your unit is RSN series and quite expensive.

Pls rate my help.

Thaks for using fixya...

Technics receiver SA AX540 overheating

is the fan turning on? many models like these have a cooling system (fan) that kicks up when the volume is turned to a certain level. if your fan has never been on, then chances are some of your soldering points have shifted or gotten a little messed up over time from the heating/cooling effect. this model runs extremely hot especially right where the vent is on the top of the cabinet. make sure that it is not in a shelf or enclosed area. dont stack other items on top of it. use an external device to control the volume so that you can have the receiver volume at a fixed level where the fan will turn on. if your sound still doesnt work, you should consider buying a new receiver or try your local craigslists forum. make sure if you buy a new one, that it is a more expensive model from a brand like sony and check the model online for known problems. stores like best buy offer extended warranties on most of their products which are very wise investments. good luck sinbad
