Check the button that turns off the roller brush to make sure you didn't press it by accident.
Unplug the vacuum and clear pet hair and other debris off the roller brush. It may stop as a safety feature if the roller brush is too restricted.
Make sure the belt to the roller brush is placed correctly and not broken.
Press the roller brush reset button. It may be located on the side of the vacuum's head, or inside the handle. The switch may need to be replaced if it's defective.
The roller brush is disabled while the handle is in the upright position, so tilt the handle backwards while testing the roller brush.
You have to take it to a vacuum shop and have a new clutch put in. The DC-7 and DC-14 have a clutch that needs replacing usually every year to year and a half.
The brushes will only work if the handle is released and the ProHeat vacuum is running . There is a micro switch inside the lower handle that switches on the DC carpet brush motor. The DC power for the motor comes from a Bridge Rectifier on the PC Board. [email protected]
sept 30,08 bought dc14 all flloor. After 3 to 4 uses it started making lots of noise when on carpet setting. I examined the roller brush and it was cracked at one end. I returned it Oct 13 ,08 and got another dc 14 all floor. Now this one after 2 uses has the same problem only a larger crack in the brush and a small piece of the brush broke off. Very dissapointed.
