i also have a Vivitar ViviCam t028 and i just changed the batteries and it wont turn on i was just about to empty the memory card but it wont turn on so i can't i don't know what's wrong with it.
The batteries may not be compatible with your camera. Choose rechargeable batteries that have a long battery life, but if changing batteries nor charging it to full power does not solve your problems, the best suggestion I could make is to return to the store you brought it in to have it checked out. I believe Vivitar ViviCam 8018 Digital Camera has a 3 year warranty, so please bring your warranty card as well.
This is more than likely a Manufacturing problem. A lot of Vivitar cameras have this problem as well as many others that are usually not the consumers fault. Just a glitch in the technology. I alone have gone through four Vivitar cameras in the last six months. The best thing to do is contact Vivitar directly. This is there website: www.vivitar.comIt is best to see if you can find the number for technical support. To see if they can give you a refund or replace it for you. I hope this helps. -Richard
Could be a loose circuit board connection, could be bad contacts in the battery compartment. Your only hope is to try to clean the battery contacts with alcohol and a q-tip. Sometimes a baking soda solution works better for cleaning, but does not dry like alcohol. Try not to get liquids in the camera.
Searching google groups shows others with problems after attaching Vivitar cameras to PC's & then not working. The only fix seems to be leaving the battery out until the camera resets itself. If you can get to the setup menu then try the "default" option to reset the camera to factory settings.
