Question about GE Washing Machines
I have an older wssh300g0ww front load washer. When I hit start twice, the lock light and start light light solid and I hear the door lock. After a second or two, the start light starts flashing and the lock wash rinse and spin lights light up. the control lock light is NOT lit. I tried a new locking mechanism and I tried resetting and unplugging for 5 min, nothing is working. What can I try next? Steve

If you have had a lightning storm or power surge it may have fried the electronics panel. That is what happened to mine. Once it is fixed you should put a surge suppressor on it that is rated for major appliances.

I too had the same problem, I closed the soap tray and a magnet popped out and got stuck to the door. Same problem with it acting like it was going to start and then beeped. This is where the magnet goes, just stick it back in, its held in with pressure (barely) :)
I took the whole control panel off to locate the magnetic reed switch, then just reverse engineered where the magnet is supposed to go on the soap drawer.

Open the soap dispenser. Look down in front of the fabric softener dish.
You should see a yellowy-green plastic cord (like weed-whacker line). Pull it.
The door should open.
If you don't see the cord, remove the four screws that hold the dispenser lid in place to find it. Just don't lose it when you put the cover back on.
