My sony hdc ec55 mini hi fi system works everything fine except tuner.

When I try to tune the radio, it scans the bands and do everything but does not run any stations. I have noticed the stereo tuned light is never on but the mono light can be turned on. Help me please.

Hi Jose, do you have connected the card with the AM and FM antennas on your Sony HCD EC55?
If this is the case and you cannot tune in, you have problems in the tuning module
Find a specialized Sony technical service
I hope you can solve the problem

Additional question. How the auto scan works. I presume that pushing autoscan button tuner automatically scan given band and stops on each tuned station.

When you push the auto scan button on a radio tuner, the tuner will automatically scan through the available frequencies (also known as a "band") and stop on any station that it finds. The radio will then display the frequency or channel of the station and allow you to listen to the broadcast. The process of auto scanning can vary depending on the specific model of radio tuner that you are using, but in general it is a quick and easy way to find all of the available stations in a particular band. Some radio tuners may also allow you to save the stations that you find during the auto scan process, so that you can easily access them in the future without having to rescan.

Sony MHCEC77 Shelf System TUNER STOPPED

If the rest of the set works fine then it is possible that the front end of the tuner is faulty. can be failure of the RF section , a possible failure of voltage to the TUNER/RADIO section . Check also if the logic switch is workingg to switch the TUNER and also if the processor is working to TUNE.

Sony Mini - Hi Fi MHC - EC55 won't play CD's. Says it is "Reading" then says "No Disk". I have used lens cleaner and reset factory settings. Any ideas

If you've already tried to clean the lens then with no improvement then its down to the laser having failed.

In some cases these are availble as a replacement part but aren't normally cost effective.

My Sony MHC-EC55 Mini Hi-Fi Component System stereo wont work. i turned it on then it shut off the red light started blinking standby button.. i unplugged it then plugged it back in turned it on ..then it...

This usually means an overload. On my daughter's system it was because she had extended the speaker wire and where she has spliced the wires the two sides were touching. Try un-hooking your speakers and turn on the system. If it works without shutting off then you can reconnect the wires one speaker at a time. Maybe you have a short in the wire or speakers.

Please help

Hi,
I don't think you can do that if your system was not designed for the additional speakers and a subwoofer. Your system is not a Home Theater surround sound system.
You could add the additional speakers by splicing the speaker wires but I wouldn't recommend it and it would not work like a true surround sound system.
