SearsPartsDirect.com has the most parts. You can also try RepairClinic.com, AppliancePartsPros, EasyApplianceParts, and others. If you know the part number, you can try Amazon and eBay.

Amana dryer ned4600yq the dryer starts when the start button is pressed but doesn't stay on once the start button is released.

From what you describe, it could be several different problems. Rarely is it the push to start switch. The most likely scenario is that the centrifugal switch on the motor is not working correctly. The other scenario would be the timer. There should be a schematic located somewhere inside the control console. Look for the wires that go to the motor's centrifugal switch and the start button. Jumper the centrifugal switch on the motor so that the dryer thinks the motor is turning all the time. Then, test it by powering it on and pushing the start button. If the motor keeps running, then it's the centrifugal switch, if it shuts off, then it's most likely the timer.

Good luck!

I have miele gas dryer t9820 is not rotating inside although it make a sound...

The problem is likely with the centrifugal switch on the dryer motor. This switch connects the start winding of the motor which provides additional torque at startup. Once the dryer is up to speed, the switch disconnects the start winding. If it malfunctions, the dryer will not turn and the motor will hum. By spinning the drum, you are providing enough torque for the start winding to be able to take over and bring the dryer up to speed.

You may be able to correct this by simply lubricating the centrifugal switch which may be sticking. I am not sure if the centrifugal switch is replacable, or if a new motor is necessary if lubricating does not solve your problem

Maytag performa dryer wont start - probably thermal fuse right? checked door, breaker, plug, ect.. When puch in the botton to start i can hear a low humming so im sure the motor is working

You may be able to solve this if you can lubricate the centrifugal switch with a spray lubricant. If not, you may have to replace the motor. I do not know if the centrifugal switch assembly can be replaced.

8 year old dryer. drum not spinning to tumble the clothes. checked and the belt is ok? What is the next thing to troubleshoot?

Hi,

Check that the motor is turning. If not turning, is it humming? If humming, then the problem is likely start winding or centrifugal switch failure. Try lubricating centrifugal switch if stuck. If that does not work, replace motor. Be sure to disconnect dryer before working on it. Centrifugal switch assembly is located in the motor frame on the shaft.

The dryer runs without the start switch being used.

Good day,
The dryer start switch, starts the motor by bypassing the centrifugal
switch built into the motor. Once the motor is running, releasing the switch doesn't matter because the motor gets it's power directly from the timer to the motor thru the centrifugal switch.

Either the switch on the consul has welded the contacts, or the centrifugal switch in the motor has done the same.

To test, unplug, and access the start switch. remove one of the wires from the switch, tape it to prevent shorting, and try the dryer. If it fails to start, then it is the switch.
If it still does the same thing as before, it is the centrifugal switch in the motor.

The push to start switch needs to be held down for the dryer to work

Good day,
When you push the start switch, power is sent to the motor directly.
When released the centrifugal switch mounted on the motor has another electrical path to that power wire, and keeps it running.
The switch has failed.
With complete model number, you can call to see if you can buy only the switch, but more likely you'll have to replace the motor.
Sorry about that.

Dryer won't stay on

When you turn your start switch it gives temporary power to the motor and then centrifugal switch in the motor kicks in and gives power to the motor until the timer stops it or the door is opened.Your motor centrifugal switch could be bad due to poor contact or heavy linting in and around the motor.Vacuum inside the dryer specially around the motor. If it doesn't fix it you have to buy a new motor, centrifugal switch cannot be bought separately.
