The door lock mechanism is stuck. You will need to get access to the back of the machine in order to undo the screws holding the top of the machine on. Make sure the machine is unplugged from the pains supply, there are wires attached to the switch and they may be live. Remove the top of the machine and reach down inside to where lock is (near door handle on front), push on the back of the lock/switch and it should release. If the problem re-occurs then the lock/switch will need to be replaced.
Since the door is broken try to break the latch, without damaging the rest of the machine. Will need a screwdriver and drill, to remove the plastic door. Don't drill into any glass or metal.
My WD 420 packed up, after watching the blogs I did:1) remove filter - found 2 quid, a thong, a pop sock, a christmas cracker toy and a load of gunge. 2) removed the motor - brushes worn to nothing - replaced them.
