Could be something not letting the motor turn freely. Like lint jammed against the fan , tub bearing bad or needs grease . if the motor will turn freely by hand it could be a bad motor.winding .you could take the drum belt off the motor & see if the motor will run ok If it buzzes with the belt off pretty sure the motor is bad you would have to replace it . A motor is expensive so try to check everything to be sure it is bad. I have seen some that you could oil the motor shaft & it would help. If lint is keeping the motor from turning clean all the lint you can all through the dryer & the outside vent .If you check the motor with the belt off don't run it very long as it will get too hot . Hope this helps

If your dryer doesn't heat properly, check this:
Venting restriction: Disconnect the dryer temporarily from the vent. If the flame stays on for a longer period, you may have an air flow obstruction to the outside.
Gas valve coils
Watch the igniter. Does it glow bright orange, then shut off without igniting the gas? (When the gas ignites there's a large blue flame.) If so, there may be defective coils on the gas valve. Mounted on the top of modern gas valves, there are black electrical coils. The coils, when energized, open the gas valve. If one or more of the coils are defective, the valve doesn't open and the gas cannot ignite. Because it's often difficult to properly test the coils, it's usually best to replace both (all) of them at the same time. Also, in your case, the coils may work fine initially, but heat build up can cause the coil(s) to malfunction and when they cool down will work again.

The motor is weak and needs replaced, don't hold the start button too long or you may smoke the motor's thermal protection and it could get smokey and stinky. Make sure you can get the blower wheel off before you make a run for parts, sometimes you have to break them off the shaft. : (
SOURCE: Maytag Bravos Dryer (1 mo. old) timer does not change from start
Maytag Bravos 400 Series Dryer purchased August 2009 - November 2009 required repair as I also experience the timer readjusting itself to excessive extended drying time when clothing was bone dry and hot. Sometimes extended to 1 hour 40 minutes! Serviceman stated problem was the Sensors in the dryer. Part number 8577274 Thermister and "Old Ohmed out open" whatever that means as listed on my repair ticket. Have not had that particular problem since. Make sure your dryer vents from dryer to outside are clean and clear of lint. Will help immensely. I have many other issues with this dryer it has been down FOUR times in 9 months. Fighting with Maytag to replace this lemon!
