If the lever for the presser foot on your Kenmore 158.441 sewing machine is locked in the down position, there could be a few different issues causing the problem. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
Check the presser foot: Make sure the presser foot is properly installed and aligned on the machine. If the presser foot is not properly installed or aligned, it can cause the lever to become stuck in the down position.
Check the presser foot lever: Inspect the presser foot lever for any visible damage or looseness. Make sure the lever is not bent or broken and that it is properly aligned and connected to the machine.
Check the threading: Make sure the machine is properly threaded. If the thread is not correctly aligned or tensioned, it can cause the presser foot lever to become stuck in the down position.
Check for any other visible issues: Inspect the machine and its components for any visible issues that may be causing the presser foot lever to become stuck in the down position. This can include debris or foreign objects that may have gotten stuck in the machine, or damage to the machine or its components.
If you have tried these troubleshooting steps and the problem persists, it may be necessary to have the machine serviced by a professional. A technician will be able to diagnose the problem and determine the necessary repairs.
not sure of make or model, but as a general guide loosen all pressure bar spring tension, open face and check for physical obstruction, lubricate area well and heat effected parts with a hair drier. work lever gently, keep fingers crossed
There could be a piece of the needle stuck in the bobbin area, try sliding the base plate off [not easy with the foot down i know] and see if you can clean it out.
Remove the screw holding the regular presser foot and the presser foot holder and set aside.
Place the take-up lever in the highest position.
Hold the even feed foot with your right hand with your thumb holding the lever of the foot in its highest position. Place the even feed foot on the presser bar and make sure that the lever of the foot rests upon the needle bar thumbscrew. While holding it in place, fasten the foot to the presser bar with the screw.
As the needle bar goes up and down, the lever on the even feed foot should rest on the needle bar needle serew and go up and down as well.
Sounds like your tension is too tight and the thread is pulling your needle. Also, make your that you needle position button is on center. If it is on left or right it will cause your needle to snap.
Happened to me to All I did was to press the embroidary foot a little backwards and check if the little arm that rest on the shaft that goes up and down is seating correclty.
