Hi, okay sounds like a faulty wig wag( throttle pot ) that is connected to the lever that makes your scooter go forward or backwards, try gently pushing in the upwards direction as you push the lever , or pulling down as you pushed the lever forward, what you 're doing is seeing if the tracks within the wigwag pot or worn by moving the lever in the up and down position you are making a good connection again.

Rob

SOURCE: ajust speed

Yes, Unfortunately it is a technical solution, the twist grip speed control is a potentiometer (variable resistor) other then limited the amount the twist grip is turned , the only other way to limit the speed is to add a fixed resistor to the "top" end of the "pot", lets say you want a 10% reduction and you have a 1000 ohm pot you would add a 100 resistor to the "top" of the pot, if it doesnt work correctly change the connection to the other endof the pot

Sounds like you have a bad throttle pot. You`ll need to check the resistance on it or take it to a dealer.

SOURCE: Mayfair freerider mobility scooter - keeps losing

ok, sounds like the speed pot,

Can you move the throttle lever up and down, try going along at a constant speed (losing power ?) then move the lever up & down ?

does it improve response ? if so replace the speed pot.

SOURCE: When moving at top speed, my scooter hesitates at

hi, that is a textbook problem related to the speed controller pot,
the pot is attached to the lever you move to go forward etc,

to be 100% certain trying moving the lever in the upwards direction while gong forward ? does it speed up ,a new speed pot required.

Hi, my wife's freerider Mayfair mobility scooter keeps going slow, have turned speed control down but still seems to loose power, doesn't stop just slows then reverts back to the speed set.

there are four possible reasons why a mobility scooter loose power including the user weight (vs. max weight of a mobility scooter), the weather condition, the riding routine and the battery age. You can check those factors to figure out the root cause. http://trustedmobilityscooters.com/reasons-mobility-scooters-loose-power

It slows right down then starts to speed up again what is wrong with it

hi Sandra, there could be a number of things, the throttle pot is worn or the speed pot , the batteries are weak, are they fully charged, the Controller is breaking down on the output.

My bruno regal 44 scooter seems to slow down after a few hundered meters, once I stop, its at full speed again, is the a safety feature?

You maybe experiencing a brake hanging up, causing drag on the motor. the brain box senses over current use and will automatically slow down. The motor brushes maybe worn down and have a build up of carbon powder, particularly on the bottom side of the motor, causing this problem, remove brushes and blow out with compressed air, no Sprays please this can cause more harm than good. Note take out all brushes before blow it out with air. Check brushes springs are not discolored. http://www.strege.com/BlueDoc

Slow speed

hi what happening to the battery power indicator while this happens ?

if you are sure the batteries are okay , look at the connections to the rear axle, making sure they are a good clean connection, you be amazed the problems with those connectors...

1. Motor breaking down.. ( Resistance changing ), Brush less motor otherwise check the brushes...
2.Brake coming on so slowing the scooter down.
3.The output stage of the controller is breaking down....

I have a 2002four wheel Legend Mobility scooter.

Hi. A lot of scooters have a seperate switch to select a high or low speed setting.
This switch is sometimes labeled indoor/ outdoor.
I have had a few scooters with a similar fault, and the wires that connect to the high/low switch have broken of the terminals on the rear of the switch.
It could also be a faulty speed control pot.
Check these and good luck. Neil.

My shoprider cobra loses speed when I am on top speed.

Hi. Does the machine do this more soon after removing the machine off the charger? When a mobility scooter is going down hill, the controller feeds the voltage generated by the motor back into the batteries. When I an testing machines here at the workshop, I have seen cases where 10 to 12 amps is going back into the batteries on a down hill run. If the batteries are fully charged or unable to take much current, the controller slows the scooter right down to limit the higher voltage generated.
It might pay to check the battery leads and connectors as well, and get the batteries tested.
While you are driving along, try moving the speed lever slowly up and down, not in and out as you normally use it. Sometimes a faulty speed pot ( wig wag ) will cause the speed to change.
Good luck. Neil.

I have a pride scooter that will not run at top speed. When speed control is turned to fastest setting, the scooter goes dead.

hi, first check the speed throttle by moving it in the upwards direction while the speed control is turned fully on, if there is a response to moving the speed pot in up and down direction , you founf the fault, otherwise the speed control is at fault, if thats proves to be okay then its the controller breaking down , check the brushes on the motor.
