Help! I took some precious pics and I cannot retrieve them because of this error.
I tried to use my card reader but it was not compatible with the SDHC card.
Do you think my pics were deleted somehow? What do you suggest I do?
I just bought a new camera - Panasonic Lumix DMC - TZ3 and separately bought a 4GB SDHC memory card. When I put the card into the camera it says Memory Card Error; Memory Card Parameter Error.
Is there anything I can do? Or is this a dodgy card? I haven't taken any photos yet.
I recently bought a DMC-TZ3 and have been researching memory cards. Several sites sell cards with the camera and list the card type. I would suggest buying one of these cards. Any cards larger than 2gb must be SDHC type SD cards. There appear to different types of SDHC cards, 1.0, 1.1 and 2.0. Check out Wikipedia.org for a description. 2.0 cards are not compatable for devices developed prior to 2.0 so that may be the reason for the camera problem. So far I haven't seen anything that states what type SDHC card the camera requires. I found a computer memory site that that sells memory that they say will work. There may be others.

If you are getting "Memory card Parameter error" than you may not be able to access data stored on the card. In this situation reformatting memory card will resolve the error but reformatting may lead to loss of important data from the card. In this situation you need for Memory card recovery software to get back lost data.

I recently purchased a SanDisk 4GB SD card which panasonic camcorder NV-GS 35 does not recognise and after formatting still comes up with Card Error. PC does not recognise it either.
The TZ1 cannot handle SDHC (cards greater than 2Gig), SD only. But the TZ3 is SDHC compatible. Try FORMATING the 4 Gig memory card while in the camera, found under one of the MENU options, if the Error code will let you access the MENU.
Hi,
I've just gone through the same thing - the camera is not compatible with 4gb memory cards. 2gb is the max.
You'll have to do what I did and take the 4gb back and swap it for 2 x 2gb
Check out ur cam user manual n c da size of memory card ur cam cn read, if da card hs a hardware error it shud nt run on card reader too, it may hve sme temporary files wich mke it unreadable by cam, i hd a sony cybershot n had sme problm, thr wer 2/3 hidden files dat caused problms, n if u wan 2 retrieve ur pics n data, use data recovery doctor 14-in-1, (u shall gt a portable version if u dnt wan 2 spend money on it chk rapilibrary 4 it)... also formattin wont wrk if ur cam reader dsnt recognise ur card

Hi - You will need to get an SDHC reader and then try the following procedure.
You can either plug in you camera to the PC as it should appear as a “Removable Drive” or put the card in a card reader attached to your PC.
Next, if you are comfortable with using a PC then you can download a FREE utility that will recover your photos from the following link:
http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec
If you need something a little more "user friendly" then you will need to buy the software. If you search the web for photo recovery software you will find many.
One I have used successfully is RescuePro that used to be bundled with some Sandisk products. Now you can get it from the link below:
http://www.lc-tech.com/software/prwindetail.html
You can try the demo to see what you can recover before buying.
Remember - Do NOT try & write anything back to the card until you can recover your pictures to your PC safely!
Please take a moment to rate this solution & let us know if the information given was useful to you – Good Luck!

The link refers to Panasonic's tests on Panasonic cards. Hardly surprising that all of them are compatible!.
Why would any SDHC card NOT be compatible with the camera if the card itself is not dodgy?
The manual specifies SDHC cards MUST be used for 4Gb and larger. For 2Gb and les, SD are OK.
My problem is that the 4Gb SDHC card works OK in the computer (and therefore is seemingly OK), but doesn't work in the camera. That is what I can't understand.

I just tried the card in the reader and it works fine in there. There is actually a file on the card. It just doesn't work in the camera.
Same camera, same size memory card, same problem!!! I checked out the Panasonic web site to see if maybe the 4GB card was not compatable with this camera, but all it says under memory is "SD card" and not a specific size!
Memory Card Error - Memory Card Parameter Error on 4gb SDHC card

I to have a 4 gb SDHC card that I was taking pictures with my TZ3 camera and all of a sudden it came up with a parameter error. Now I can't get any computer to recognize that there is even a card in the reader (I have tried multiple card readers, including a SDHC reader). Help, these pictures are irreplaceable! About 3 gb worth!

Memory Card Error - Memory Card Parameter Error on 4gb SDHC card problem
I got the same problems but I used the Memory card for 11month without problems and suddenly doesn't work anymore...
I thought the problem is the memory card so I decided to buy a new memory card. The new card worked without problems til I transfered my pictures to my pc...but within the next days everything works fine til again suddenly without reason the memory card failure appeared...
Where is the problem?
I have same problem with Kinston's SDHC code SD4/4GB. Â I am not sure till now if it is the camera problem or the SDHC card problem. Â I think there are many TZ5 users out there with same problem. Â Perhaps Panasonic could say something about it. Â This is my first deviation from being Canon's customer (I have 6 Canon's various models + lenses). Â I doubt that I would buy anything from them again. Â The camera is brand new and I use it twice and each time it failed me. Â "Memory Card Read Error" and it wiped all my taken pictures.
Got the same problem - is there any solution?? Any hint is much appreciated ... Thanks
