It is not possible to assess the extent of damage without examination of the unit. That screen as well as audio functions are inoperative does not bode well. However, it can scarcely hurt to take a stab at the matter. --Well, it won't hurt unless you don't know how to keep from voltage going through you rather than the player. The following links gives you an idea of some of the information available. You can even find links which suggest using superglue to plug out a broken plug. (I doubt that.) As is, it is unclear whether or not your unit is portable. It is usually helpful to search for such information by including brand and model in a search. I suspect you are better off getting another player, however.

SOURCE: Husband dropped dvd player.

No, I wouldn't say it's worth fixing, as the panel could have a burnt out backlight, or even circuitry issues. This could cost around 100-150 bucks to fix, or you can buy a new one for around 80. So, I would say, just buy a new one.

SOURCE: cant find headphone socket for rosen in-car dvd player

As far as i know, all Rosen in-car dvd players come with IR (infra-red) headphones so the sound is transmitted that way rather than using a lead from the headphones to the unit, therfore no sockets are neccessary!
Hope this helps....

SOURCE: portable dvd player dropped now has sound and faint picture

I usually prefer to fix things but here unless this is a very expensive unit let it go, it did enough damage to cause image issues and a screen hinge broken, if it can be repaired it will always be prone to some collateral issues that may show up later, like a small car in a accident, no matter how good the repair place is it will never be quite the same.

NO sound on portable DVD player after plugging headphone

One of two situations: Plugged in headsets connect to contacts inside of the female port on the player. If any of the internal connections within the female port are shorted the player switching component will not disconnect and thus the player speakers will not function. Could be dirt, metal particles from the surface of the head phone pins, or just a defective female jack. You may try to insert a small round probe (like a tooth pic etc.) saturated with rubbing alcohol and twirl the probe around to collect any deposits off of the integral connectors. Be careful Not to break the probe off inside of the port. If after this attempt the same problems exist; only a qualified technician can observe the interior of the player for electrical disfunction.

I have the TruTech LMD-5702RT Portable DVD Player. The auxilary screen has no picture when it is plugged in. It has sound, but no picture. The brightness adjustment will still take the screen from light to...

The cable that connects the two is a 4 pole cable, which means that some of the poles are used for video and others for audio (stereo left and right). My kids broke the cable within a week of having the device and I had to bend the cable back and forth to get a picture to show up. I finally ordered a new cable from here: http://www.techcables.com/6-ft-3-5mm-4-pole-mini-av-to-mini-av-camcorder-a-v-cable-p-36.html

DVD sound

Go to your local radio Shack and get the tape adapter that you need. It's a cassette w/ a wire connected to it, you put that into your tape player then the cord/wire plugs into your DVD player and you'll hear the movie through your car stereo. I have one and that's what you need. Enjoy! :)

Overhead DVD monitor screen dead but sound plays through stereo

If it's a Rosen dvd player the dvd will need to be put in the unit itself & not the unit in the dashboard! The dvd player mounted in the head ligning is a seperate unit from the stereo system fitted in your dashboard!
Sounds to me like you are putting a dvd into the dashboard stereo system which will play any audio through the car speakers...
Put a dvd into the Rosen unit itself & i am sure you will get a picture on the drop down screen! Remember that as far as i know all Rosen dvd players transmit the sound from the dvd to infra red headphones that should be included! Remember to check the batteries if you still can't hear any sound as they run down quick if the headphones are left on!

Hope this helps....
