It's usually because your remote batteries are low. Remotes are known to send off some weird signals when they're on the last bit of juice. Your TV could be interpreting infrared noise from your remote as an "On" command. SOURCE: TV Picture Goes Black

I had the same exact problem.
I removed the bulb and cleaned it. There is a small screen at the top of the bulb and it was covered with dust. Once it was cleaned I replaced the bulb and it solved the problem.
Thanks to those who posted the solutions

SOURCE: Sharp lc-32sh12u...no picture

It can be either the LCD panel driver board, or the worst case is bad LCD panel.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the response. I found a PWB board, a Power board and an AV board. Would one of these fix the problem?"

SOURCE: MY POWER KEEP GOING OF SHARP lc-20b2ua

I have the same problem. I fixed it for about 3 months by wrapping duct tape around the large pack midway in the cord (where the wall plug and TV line plug in). But, it started up again this week. I can't get the "box" open either, but that is where the problem is. Mine is mounted to the wall, so no one ever touches the cord. I'll let you know what we find when we get it opened.

How do I replace a broken circuit board on a Sharp LC-60E78UN TV?

You can either remove the power supply and check and replace caps and most likely the transformer (pop sound). Or a replacement can be found on eBay, amazon, etc... One model TV can have numerous diff power supply models from revisions and improvements. If you replace the board make sure you look match serial numbers on board to the new board. The back of the TV will come off very easy. Lay TV face down on a flat surface(making sure nothing is touching the LCD) remove screws. (Make sure cable coax slides free, some have a retainer but to remove) once the back is off the layout should be so simple, you should have no problem identifying parts.

TV has sound but no picture...

This is a pitcure tube problem, either you buy another picture tube and change it on your TV or if this is under warranty better to send it back to the manufacturer and have this one repair.

Sharp Aquos LC-32D41U pictures problem

I have had exactly the same problem. Sounds daft but by not using the remote, and only using the power on/off switch on the TV itself, it is working perfectly...no idea why
Use the remore for changing programmes etc but not for on/off
Try it anyway because I know how annoying this is

Sharp Aquos LC-32D4OU

Comment by Guest, posted on Oct 25, 2008My Aquos has the same problem. I'm not sure how I discovered this, but when I lean the TV forward and hit the power button it will turn on every time. If the screen blacks out and I don't lean it forward when I hit the power button, the screen will just remain blank. It is very weird, but at least repeatable.

- Thank you, Guest. That did it. It definitely seems to be a problem with the TV. Tilting it and hitting the power button helped me get the video back.
