1)remove plastic cover from bottom rear of tv
2)remove 8 philips head screws on rear of tv above base
3)pick up tv and base will come off
once you remove it you realize how easy it is

5) With the direction keys type:

If your TV is less then a year old, still under manufacturers warranty. If not under warranty the defective parts could be the power supply or the back light inverter board. Both boards can be replace easily.
The way to know if you have a defective backlight inverter is by shinning a light from a flash light near the screen with the TV on and check in a 45 degrees angle if you have a dark video in the background, if the video is present then you have a backlight board failure. If no video, then is a power supply failure.

Our insignia tv did this. Menu kept popping up, on and off, until we were ready to throw the tv out the window. We factory reset the tv and it hasn't done it since. Google instructions on how to factory reset the set, and all done.
