How to replace the muffler on a coleman powermate 7000 generator (Honda engine)

I have a coleman powermate 7000 generator (Honda engine). The muffler broke off, leaving part of a bracket and a tube in place. I bought the correct replacement. I now have to remove the old bracket/tube, then install the new muffler. I'm looking for instructions on which tools to use and how to proceed. I have pix but don't see a way to upload them.

SOURCE: Brand new Generator not working

Take it back where you bought it with the sales receipt. Just about everything has at least a one year warranty, Anything that's well built should last AT LEAST one or two years. As long as it wasn't submerged, abused or dumped off the tailgate of a truck they should make it right for you.

SOURCE: 2008 Ford Fusion Wing Mirror Replacement

I checked Ford Focus mirror replacement and it seems to be the same. This is for the manual, unheated mirror.

Remove the mirror cover inside the door - slide a screwdriver behind the cover and pry loose carefully.

Remove the single 10mm bolt and the mirror comes free.
NB. Do not drop the bolt into the door.

SOURCE: sparkplug replacement coleman 1850 generator

John if you pull the old plug out the plug number will be on the plug itself it will ahve the manufacture number and manufacture name. Otherwise take it to any parts store and they can match it. Nappa Auto parts will carry it for sure. Be sure to ask them what the gap is on it they will have in in the book but will be .0035 IN. I believe. Be sure to gap it as they are supposed to be gapped alread but some are not even close. Also Nappa will have the reference guide for the briggs and stratton engine but are a real common plug.

You may not be able to find the owners manual, but if you search using model / type #s off the engine, you may be able to find the manual for the engine from the manufacturer.

How to modify powermate 6250 muffler to make quiter

I wouldn't recommend modifying the muffler, doing so would change the OEM's engine back pressure specifications and can lead to engine damage and carbon monoxide leakage

I have a problem with the carburator at my coleman powermate pro gen 5000, where i buy this carburator on line. thanks

To find the correct part on line, first determine the engine model number and code stamped or labeled on the engine fan cover. For example will be Briggs, or Honda etc. Once you determine the Engine brand and model number, you can go to a web address like Jacks small engine, or even ebay or a replacement part or carb kit. May be easier to take the engine information to a mower repair shop in your area for a replacement. The engine on your generator is similar to one used on lawn equipment. Good luck

To loud, do they have a better muffler kit

Most likely a different muffler is available for easy bolt-on solution. Best way to check is to find model and type of engine and check with engine distributor in your area or the web. Engine model is usually found on the starter/fan cover or the block. The problem is the limited space within the frame of the generator. Other solution is to contact a small engine service center for modification. There are several sources for quiet mufflers, however takes creative installation. Take a look at other generators with very quiet mufflers for ideas (different types of machine may use the same engine so take notice how other types lawn equipment /tools deal with noise ). Some generators are made for camping or use in quiet zones and use other methods for quieting the unit. Still other generators are noisy even with large mufflers. Good luck with your project.

Hi. I'm trying to help my Dad locate the replacement carburetor for his Coleman PowerMate Model PM0524000, SERIAL# 78661904. Can you help me?

Best way to find a carb is to start with the actual engine model number and type. It should be stamped on engine fan cover. With engine model information, contact local parts dealer for your brand of engine (not Coleman/Powermate, but Briggs, Kohler, Honda, etc.) There are many options for locating parts, including ebay once you have identified brand type model. Good luck

Gernator is not quiet enough. Need a quiet muffler and spark arrestor to fit Coleman Powermate 5000W

There may be other mufflers available from engine mfg. that will just bolt on. Look for the model number and type of the engine itself and check with small engine dealer or engine mfg. web site (not coleman web site). I have seen many home-made modifications to quiet engine resulting in only moderate success. The quietest used scooter muffler but only exaggerated the sound of the intake and mechanical sound of internal parts. Take a look at generators built for camping for ideas. You will notice that not only do they have larger mufflers but also use insulated covers to deaden sound. Good luck with your project

I have a Coleman Powermate 5500 Generator. It is

This engine was not built with quiet in mind, it was built to be cheap. upgrading the exhaust is your best bet and likely the cheapest. Talk to a small engine shop about the possibility of using a muffler from an ATV.

Super Trap makes a fantastic muffler, if it will fit your application (most do). A link has been provided at the end. When you are looking at the various options, you will notice that a rating in db units. Reducing noise by 3db is half the original noise level.

if you can, go with the SuperTrapp. If still noisy (probably won't be), then add on the resonator as well. Downside to using aftermarket is that you will have an exhaust stack / system that sticks out the side of the generator. Upside is that you will be able to think quietly about how much the exhaust sticks out.

And no, I don't have any connection with Jack's, they are just the first hit that came up. Now that you know that something is available, you can do more research on it.
